My cousin Larry, a Vietnam era veteran (US Army, MOS 52D20, active duty March '66 - March '68), just called me a while ago to report on an event his local radio station hosted for their listeners.
To go back a bit... Last week the AM-920 "Morning Blend" co-hosts Mark Vance and Andrea Shea-King obtained a DVD copy of "Stolen Honor" and announced on the air that they were going to find a place to show the documentary for their listeners and friends. As of Friday last week they had not located a place to air the documentary; the Melbourne Community Library would not return their calls.
As Larry recollects, they announced on Monday's show that they had secured a conference room at the Imperial's Hotel and Conference Center in Melbourne, FL for Tuesday evening, October 19th.
They announced that they would likely have two showings, three if need be, but would not turn anyone away.
The first showing was to be at 6PM tonight. Larry reports that he arrived at 6 o'clock and the room was already filled beyond capacity (150 seating). People were standing in the aisles, sitting on the floor and extending out into the hallway; with younger people giving up their seats to the more senior adults in the room. Andrea and Mark remarked that the crowd was much larger than they had expected. Andrea joked that she didn't realize that they had so many listeners.
My cousin waited to get a seat for the 7PM showing, and chatted with the many folks waiting in an informal line. Larry was able to get into the 7PM showing, and he chose to sit on the floor when he gave his seat to an "older fellow." As people found their seats, Swift Boat Cdr. Thomas W. Wright, USN, Ret. PCF-44, spoke a few words. He said that John Kerry had served under him, that John Kerry had a discipline problem, he wasn't where he was supposed to be at specific times, would not answer his radio when he was called, put other people at risk, and would not function as a team player on patrols - when life depends on a team cooperating; and he elaborated further. After Cdr. Wright's five or so minute introduction, a former POW, McMahon (sp?) told a little about his five years and seven months in captivity; and after that the documentary aired.
After the 7PM show let out, more folks had been lining up for the third showing of "Stolen Honor." Larry reports that the room filled up fully yet again. It was announced that the documentary would be shown at least one more time tonight if there were people who wanted to see it. My cousin and others went outside and chatted further, with Cdr. Wright graciously autographing Larry's copy of "Unfit for Command."
Good to see someone has enough guts to show it.
That's great! Thanks for the report!
We've got to do something to get this film out to the public. Video stores are renting "Farenheit 911" for free. And, it looks like Sinclair is caving.
Any ideas how we can do this? How about encouraging conservative radio stations to promote showings in the battleground states? Open to suggestions.
Show it on a wall at a bar or on a wall in a park.
The park idea is a good one. The bar......hmmmm. Nah.
Offer free copies to anyone who will announce they are going to be showing it locally. If enough folks show it on their own, the networks will no longer be necessary.
Show it on a wall at a bar or on a wall in a park.
I agree. The clock is ticking. We can't take the chance for someone else to drop the ball. Each one of us has to take this on ourselves and get it in front of everyone we can. There are a lot of people who will go to a free movie just to get out of the house.
Two guys got a copy of "Stolen Honor," rented a conference center in our area and put an ad in the local paper. They got Col Bud Day and former Kerry Commander Larry Hibbert to come speak. And it was free to the public. They drew a crowd of over a 1,000 people. Not bad for a real grassroots effort.
At the last minute, Sinclair Broadcasting has reshuffled the broadcast schedule for their program on "Stolen Honor" and now call it "A POW Story: Politics, Pressure and the Media". The new schedule and content of the program is described in the Sinclair press release shown in the post below:

Oh, no, they absolutely aren't! Read that story again.
If that's what it takes to get the truth out, then that's what we'll all have to do - get our own copies of the DVD and reserve the community room at the local public library, community center, church basement, etc.; and pass out handbills around town and show the documentary our own darn selves!
We cannot let the DemocRATS and Traitor John Kerry attempt another election theft in America. We need Bush voters to turn out in landslide numbers on November 2nd, and we need to wake the sleeping voters to the truth about the "man" who wants to take GW Bush's place in the White House.
/off soapbox-end rant
Great report -- thanks for posting this report from your cousin.
Awesome report. I hope it gets repeated many, many times.
