"VB"?
What's that? Predecessors to the "VC"?
Rapidly changing weather conditions at this time of year cause frequent plane crashes. We live near about a half a dozen small airports and it's amazing how often some small plane comes down. Usually with fatalities and only occasionally do some survive.
A relative of mine used to work in the defense industry and studied Russian radar quite a bit. At about that same time, he had been telling some of his co-workers that he thought he could sneak into Moscow by flying just the perfect route between the radars.
I think he believed this may have been a NATO test. During the cold war, the west and USSR screwed around with each other a lot.
You rarely hear about the "crashes" where no one was hurt. There are a lot more of them than you would believe.

I'll be honest. I admire anyone who flies - ESPECIALLY in the small planes and the military fliers. I get giddy just watching the air shows - and because of where we moved (5 miles north of Miramar) it's like I get a free show every day. I just don't have the courage to get in one, as much as I wish I did. And yes, I don't know anything about General Aviation. I still marvel that ... just like in "Midnight Run" ... they're so (TOO) big... they go down! But they rarely do. Quite an accomplishment.
Well, I'll be dipped...
You're right!
I guess you can't make this stuff up...
Was that interview a laugh riot or what?

scared me because I had some friends from church going to the Bush rally this afternoon in Florida..but I just talked to them..they got out before the storm.
I had two. The first was a nose grear broke on a Cessna 210 just as we touched down and the second was I ran a fuel tank dry in a Piper Arrow just as I was doing a downwind after a very long flight (pilot error, me). Fortunately I swiched tanks, the engine never really completely quite and I landed without incident. Got to used to having the fuel selector in "both" flying a Cessna.
Oh please.
A Volkswagen beetle can hold a lot of sarin, anthrax, etc.
Dead man's spiral? When a plane goes into a spiral, the fluid in the inner ear will catch up and begin circling in the same direction at the same rate. In the absence of external cues - a view of the horizon - the pilot and passengers feel like they are in a straight and level flight. When the pilot releases the stick, causing the plane to resume straight and level flight, it feels as if the plane has pitched up and to the side opposite the direction of the spiral. This phenomenon is associated with amateur pilots with more money than time to train (e. g., dentists) who either fly without instrument rating or simply disregard their instruments and fly right into the ground.
Hope you said your thank yous to the man above!
actually, "crashing," and "burning."
That reminds me. Did you know that Senator John Kerry was an alter boy? AND a Vietnam Veteran!
