The coordinator for the Tacoma/Pierce County DUI Task Force was arrested for drunken driving earlier this month in Spanaway, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.
Sheri Badger was seen driving 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on state Route 7 near Tule Lake Road at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 9, Trooper Johnny Alexander told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
Troopers pulled her over, gave her a breath test and determined she had been driving drunk. She was released to a friend, who drove her home, Alexander said.
Badger was cooperative when pulled over. The results of the breath test were not released pending the filing of charges in the case, Alexander said.
The Tacoma/Pierce County DUI Task Force was created in 1983. It organizes anti-DUI education and enforcement programs.
On a side note, what a dumba**
This is human nature in all its glory.
Ummm except for the part about the mandatory night in jail, that is.
Maybe she was just doing research on drunk driving to have a better understanding of it.
Thats part of the sentencing
You have a good grasp of Pierce County! We had a rat county council member who was arrested in a prostitution sting a few years ago who used that line. Just substitute prostitution for drunk driving
Or, secretly she was a member of D.A.M.M. (Drunks Against Mad Mothers).
She was released to a friend, who drove her home, Alexander said.
Let this be a common citizen and a night in jail would be the rule. This isn't the first case in Pierce County that rank has its privilege.
In other news, a sting consisting of twelve female undercovers yeilded an arrest the other night for a fellow who was soliciting a prostitute.
The suspect, a police officer from Seattle, met bail and was released.
DUI is sortof the great equalizer. Except for the small percentage of people that never take a drink, anybody who ever has taken a drink will eventually drive when they've had a little too much.
Since DUI arrests have been dropping in years of late... the MADD types are hyping this up again, in hopes of lowering the threshold so that they can get more arrests... even though accident rates are also going down.
Not enough drunk drivers out there anymore... gotta try to define some more into the loop...
Must be driving the lawyers nuts. I hope you're not a lawyer :-)The real problem is how light the sentencing is. I was very skeptical when the bac level went to .08. It, like you said, defined more to the group, but the DUI trial attorneys loved it ($$$) which in my mind sent up the red flag. Of the fatality or serious injury DUI collisions I'm familiar with, the original .10 bac was well exceeded. On the other hand, anyone who has lost a loved one to a drunk driver will get a sympathetic ear from me
Well, the BAC limit was 0.10. Now it's 0.08. There is talk of 0.05. Many drivers are given "24 hour roadside" suspensions at 0.05 now.
Look at Sweden, where if you blow ANY BAC, you are arrested and jailed. This is what the final goal of the MADDies is. Utter and complete prohibition.
I too sympathise with those who have lost loved ones to drunk driving, but I have serious doubts about the end result of allowing random roadside checkpoints of the citizenry for any reason.
If you see a problem, inform the authorities so they can deal with it, but don't permit public servants to interrupt everyone's life on a "fishing expedition".
