It was Carter Vs. Ford, so where were you during the course of that election and when Carter claimed his victory(unfortunately). It was a pretty close race.

Let me think. I was (Nov 76') somewhere in Europe on my way back from Iran, OK , so a got lost along the way. I'm a guy, didn't ask directions and besides, I hadn't been down any of those roads before. And I hadn't any woman with to keep me going the right way. I guess I'm lucky I found my way at all.

Actually, what I'm really curious about is what % of current active FReepers were among the collection of nitwits that voted for Perot in 1992.One of them would be me. :)

Semper Fi, Marine!!!! Just have to say it, I hate 53s, Have a little dent in my forhead from one.
Many yrs before 76, Far far away, I walked in from my Huey to the line shack, along the way, I walked under the tail of a 53. On the way back out to my UH-1E it was totally dark, but I could make out the shape of that 53, so I walked the same route. Prang, They had put it in Blade fold. and a main blade was hanging down the left side with it's end right in my way.
Come to think about it, using sKerry's standards, I'm due a Purple Heart, not!

So I guess you tended to vote Democrat.True, but it's difficult to vote anything other than 'Rat when somebody's always registering and voting for you. Although somewhere I have a "Spermatagonia for Goldwater" sign....somewhere ;)

"lucky you didn't slip on an oil slick and bust the back of your head as well." Ya, your right!!!
Ya, I never understood why 53 & 46 mechs didn't just fix those things so they wouldn't leak. Knew a 46 Crew Chief that had this little Umbrella so his pilots could get in the Cockpit without getin rained on from the forward transmission.
Na, I'm sure if you guys wouldn't have had blade fold systems life could have been better.

I was in college, living in a BIG house that a group of us rented together. Five girls upstairs, and two guys downstairs.
One of the guys downstairs was from Southwest Georgia and was majorly campaigning for Carter (our yard was covered in Carter posters). This was in Georgia, so it was expected.
Anyhow, the polling place was about 2 miles away, so I walked from the house to vote. After I voted, I started to walk back and saw my Carter Campaign roomy leaving the parking lot.
He smiled big and pulled over to let me in the car...said something about "Well, you first election and you voted for the right man!" I looked puzzled and said "You mean me voting for Ford?"
And he pulled away, leaving me in cloud of dust. Two years later, I knew I had done the right thing. Twenty eight years later, I still know I did the right thing.

It was Carter Vs. Ford, so where were you during the course of that election and when Carter claimed his victory(unfortunately). It was a pretty close race. I attended and covered the famous San Francisco Ford/Carter debate for a college newspaper where Ford inexplicably stated that eastern europe was not under Soviet domination. I had earlier unsuccessfully campaigned to be a delegate for Jerry Brown at the national convention.
Pretty much an anti-establishment ignorant student, I proudly cast my first ever Presidential vote for the peanut man.
Four years later, I had learned my lesson, grown up considerably and become a taxpayer. Voted for Reagan and Republicans ever since.

I remember that song!! It was to the Oscar Meyer bologna tune. My bologna has a first name, it's J-I-M-M-Y. My bologna has a second name, it's C-A-R-T-E-R. ...something, something...Jimmy Carter has a way of screwing up the USA. Ha! Funny how things like that come back to you! (well, most of it anyway!)
