I received the following from a friend after hearing about this from them this morning:
Six months ago The Tampa Tribune announced that conservative Editorial Page Editor Edwin Roberts was retiring and being replaced by Rosemary Goudreau who inside sources told me was a liberal brought here from a northern newspaper. She has lived up to her reputation as the paper has been endorsing liberal policies and liberal local candidates.

Thanks for clarifying what I suspected. So in truth this article is another liberal lie. Implying that the paper is 'GOP but not endorsing Bush' without mentioning the mjor ideological change in the editorial staff ideological is tantamount to a lie.

I won't say 'I knew it.' But the significant, sudden change does seem like a thumb in the eye. Thanks for the info.

I've definately noticed this. The paper has taken a leftwards turn recently. Several of my friends have also mentioned this to me.
Of course, it's still better than the St. Petersberg Times which I am sure will enthusiastically endorse the "moral and nuanced" Kerry. That paper isn't allowed in my house. My kids know better than to bring it home.

I just knew it. Dang. About 6 months ago the editorial page started looking and sounding like the St. Pete Times, (the Communist Daily Worker) and the front page was all articles from the NY Times. I canceled my subscription after 16 years.

Apparently they've decided to make their new liberal agenda a higher priority than their revenues, which will soon be declining.
