Gov. Jeb Bush said Sunday he will not run for president in 2008 and defended his brother from critics who say the president refuses to acknowledge his mistakes.
The governor also denied a report that he knew of problems with a list of felons to be purged from the state's voter rolls months before it was discarded.
"I'm not going to run for president in 2008. That's not my interest," Bush told ABC's "This Week." "I'm going to finish my term."
Bush said he was not going to think about his next move until after completing his second term in 2006. In an Associated Press survey in August, more than a third of the state's Republican delegates said they favored Bush as the party's presidential candidate in 2008.

Good we don't need a Dynasty!
I have this gut feeling that Guiliani and Pataki will run against each other in 2008 for the Repub. nomination.
A dynesty should skip a generation.
The next in line is I believe Jeb's son.... the good looking one with the hispanic mom..
Rudy is hardly a conservative.
Rudy may not be a die-hard conservative but he is extremely popular with Dems. and Repubs. I think if he ran against Hillary he is the only one right now who could beat her and I have this gut feeling Hillary will win her second term in the senate in 2006 and with that under her belt she will go for the presidency in 2008.
Barack Obama???
Oh, that's right -- he pulled out before. My faulty memory, sorry!
if Rudy or Pataki decides to run for senate - Hillary will skip it and just move right into the presidential race.
I'm kind of glad.
Time for another Goldwater. :o)
Don't think they are interested in the Senate. It just doesn't seem that way to me. Guiliani is testing the waters for 2008 already and Pataki has not ruled it out. I don't think they could care less about the Senate race. Just a gut feeling I have. Hillary will run again in 2006 to keep that so that if she loses in 2008 she will still have her Senate seat. She's is cunning!
*LOL* Yep, no way on the "Pepperball".
HUH, A woman has no place being president in the USA???
Sorry Lady, But I'll take Condoleezza Rice, President 2008 over most men and especially as the BEST candidate against Hitlary. Condi has more balls, is one of the most articulate, ferocioius but feminine women who could run this country better than most men.
pataki would make a good senator actually, I think he has run out the string as governor, and with the current legislative senate makeup where his own republican party is over-riding his budget vetoes - what's the point.
Good news.. About the only thing that would cause me not to vote for President.. course there is Arlen Spectre and John McLaim... I take it back there are several reasons I wouldn't vote. Would not vote democrat for any reason I can think of..
Jeb Bush (for president) would strain my republican party ties to the breaking point.. I might even vote 3rd party even if "the Hildebeast" were running.. Hope this does not happen.. Bush Sr., Bob "welfare pimp" Dole, and Bush Jr. have used up any benefit of the doubt I have left..
I think he would make a fine Senator but if you take a good look at Guiliani and Pataki when they help Pres. Bush on the campaign - you can see they have stars in their eyes. Just a gut feeling. I've seen it before.
