While talking to Kelli Arena at the news desk, Maria Hinojosa mentioned the growing tension between residents in Georgia and what she called "undocumented workers." Arena caught her and brought up the fact that use of the word "undocumented workers" was controversial. Ms. Hinojosa then said the fact that some Americans refer to "undocumented workers" as "illegal aliens" was similar to the way that Jews were thought of as "illegal" in Nazi Germany, which led to the Holocaust.
Some troll FReepmailed me the other day with the same "immigration control = Nazism" argument.
My, but we had a good time batting him around.

I saw this yesterday or the day before and no one wanted to challenge Hinojosa. Arena asked a couple of questions but in the end they all looked a Hinojosa as some sort of hero. I also found it odd that in one clip Hinojosa was using an interpreter. Does she affect that slight accent to show how connected she is to her heritage?

In history, we were talking about the Bill of Rights, and which ammendments were obsolete (we finally agreed that none were). Anyway, when I brought up the fact that the Weimar Republic used the same logic liberals use for gun control, my teacher was impressed, but she didn't even know that...

I agree. Maria Hinojosa neglected to mention that the Nazis EXTERMINATED the "illegals" in their midst. What we demand is the timely, orderly, peaceful and bloodless deportation of illegal immigrants aka "undocumented workers," and hefty fines and prison terms for those of our so-called fellow citizens who harbor them. And yes, there is a difference between legal (including legitimate concerns for political/religious refugees seeking asylum - [Elian Gonzalez, for example, should have been allowed to stay in the United States]) and illegal immigration. I simply do not accept the proposition that we have any responsibility at all for the welfare of ILLEGAL immigrants.
