This year's campaign for governor offers Missouri voters a distinct choice.
From style and personality to age, experience and gender, Matt Blunt and Claire McCaskill offer significantly different alternatives for the state's next chief executive.
Blunt, 33, is the epitome of the Generation X Republican. His meteoric rise through the party ranks has been fueled by a steadfast opposition to taxes, a strong military record, an appeal to traditional values and a well-connected family name.
McCaskill, 51, is a classic baby-boomer Democrat, a lawyer who came of age in the heyday of the women's movement. She climbed the political ladder, first as a local prosecutor, and then moved through a succession of state and local elected positions of increasing responsibility. In the biggest gamble of her career, McCaskill knocked off a sitting governor in the August primary.

Ping list for the discussion of the politics and social aspects that directly effects Generation Reagan / Generation-X (Those born from 1965-1981) including all the spending previous generations (i.e. The Baby Boomers) are doing that Gen-X and Y will end up paying for.

Any polls on the race??
Matt Blunts campaign sent me an e-mail in which their poll had him up about 46% to 44%. This was about a week ago.
This will be a city versus country election. Here in the St. Louis area, all stops by the local newspaper, unions, and civil rights groups are being pulled for McKaskill. The same goes for KC. Matt Blunt is very strong in the Ozark area. I think northern Missouri (the corn belt) will decide this election.
Ping.
McKaskill is so far to the left I can't believe she has a prayer. As long as there is not widespread voter fraud in St.Louis similar to the Ashcroft/Carnahan race we should be more than fine.
"CLAIRE MCCASKILL should be elected Missouri's next governor because of her experience, her knowledge of government, her record of accomplishment and her pragmatic, nonideological approach to issues."
nonideological ??!! LOL !!
I sure hope a lot of non-urban voters turn out Nov. 2 in this state. What is coming out of the mouths of the leftist big city newsprint, unions (and I'm in the Machinist union), and civil rights groups would make your head spin. And yes. Get ready for some St. Louis City voter fraud that night.
Holdup was an embarassment. So much so, even the Dims trashed him in the Primary. They knew he had no chance against Blunt, nor anyone else for that matter.
______________
Claire McCaskill's own campaign literature brag about her being opposed to CCW and she has stated she will work to over turn it. That is why NRA is behind M. Blunt. She worked with Carnahan to defeat CCW in 1999. She is a clear and present danger to the 2nd Amendment.
Most other Dems running for State-wide office are a threat to RKBA. Carnahan's daughter, Robin managed the anti-PROP B (CCW) fight in 1999. She is running against Catherine Hannaway for Sec. of State.
Becki Cook, former Sec. of State is running against Peter Kinder for Lt. Gov. She is a strong ANTI! Has fought against 2nd Amendment issues her entire adult life. Were it not for Hannaway/Kinder, we would not have CCW.
Lastly, Sarah Steelman, a strong defender of RKBA is running for State Treasurer. All these Republicans are backed by NRA. I say vote STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN on Nov. 2nd!!
On the ballot, he will be listed as "NP"- non-partisan, and one votes to retain or not retain. This bird gets a NO from me!
Thank you for this tip - I hate it when judges are on the ballot because it's hard to find information about them good or bad. Do you have a good source, or are you just good at remembering??
I will vote for Blunt, but I really, really wish he was a little older than 33! Nothing specific - I guess maybe it is just my age (63) showing.
His stance on holding up executions of death row inmates was discussed (on TV) by local prosecutor and Jay Nixon, Missouri AG has filed suit to force the issue.
Thanks!! I appreciate the info! :o)
I was in Northern Missouri last week, and even businesses had Republican signage out front.
I understand - I'm 31 and I'm feeling old thinking that we'll have a 33 year old governer. :-)
Thanks for the info. This guy has got to go.
He is running against Bill Federer, a conservative Republican in Gabby Gephart's old District.
Time to nip these Carnahan's in the bud, before they become another Dim Dynasty.
Federer nearly beat Gabby last time around. Let's hope he can capture this seat for us!!Federer04.com
