I was listening to Fox News during Brit Hume's show (he wasn't there for some reason). They were talking about how there could be a 25% chance the election won't be decided for almost a month or even longer if the election is a real tight one and the lawsuits start flying because of "alleged" voter fraud.
All I got to say is that I don't want to be up night again like I was during the last presidential election. I assume you folks don't want to be either. I now find myself wanting to avoid the news just so I won't continually hear this kind of talk but yet it's something that is a real threat.
Besides a stiff bourbon (I don't drink alc-e-holic beverages) what are we going to do this year to make it through what could possibly be the worst election night in national history?
If Bush is wronged on election night then he needs to stand up for what's right. I hear what you say and it's a noble thing, but to let someone like Kerry in the White House is a thought I cannot bear. I'd have to hang my American flag in defeat for 4 years or more.

Not really. Provisional votes are not counted til later, and then only if there are enough to make a difference, and then only after they are verified.
I don't think W and Rummie will allow our military members to be disenfranchised this time. I'm thinking a couple of C-17's on standby to airlift ballots stateside to be postmarked before 2 November.
There is an optional federal election ballot that can be used if the military member does not receive a state ballot or receives one that is deemed invalid because of dem maneuvering over Nader or for those states that "forgot" to put Bush/Cheney on the absenteee ballot (at least two instances I've read about).
I think military guys are advised to vote on BOTH the state and the federal ballots, just to be sure one of them will be accepted.
Military people are wise this time- they know the dems will try to have their ballots tossed by a democrat lawyer if someone forgets to dot an "i" or cross a "t" - as happened in florida 2000. After what we have been through and still have ahead- I think many military people will take their vote MUCH more seriously than ever before. And we have a Commander in Chief and Secretary of Defense who will look out for the troops.
In the couple months that followed I became very informed about the Florida Election Code and even some nuances in US Constitutional law that I had never focused on. It was the best Continuing Legal Education class that I ever attended.
Part of me enjoyed seeing the legal fight, but the rest of me hated the fact that it was going on and that unfair referees were making the decision.
My best guess is that Kerry plans to make Ohio into this election's Florida, which would mean that I will get to become an expert on Ohio election law.
My best guess is also that Bush will win enough states that Ohio won't make a difference, and then the Kerry campaign will have to decide sometime that night whether to challenge everything everywhere.
This time I won't be standing in the drizzle in Austin to find out. A nice couch in front of the TV will do nicely.
I agree, and the legal challenges will only go on if the election is within a percent or so. If one party challenges a clear winner the backlash for that party will be stupefying. America doesn't want or need another 2000.
I sure hope you're right. I forgot about the military airlift capabilities of our fine folks in uniform.
Last I knew we had a legislative branch of government that made our lives hell for the past forty years? What that guy Kerry will say or do to get elected by stupid people is amazing!

However, having to wait weeks or even longer to see who will be President is NOT normal, and is unsettling and disruptive! I am the veteran of several "Sore Loserman" demonstrations in post-Election Day 2000 as are many Freepers, so I know!!!! (This is despite the fact that I am basically an independent who voted for Nader in 2000, but I still ended up in pro-Bush demonstrations for obvious reasons. Don't worry--I'm voting for Bush on November 2!!!!)
What would REALLY not be normal--and would be OUTRAGEOUS--is if the Soros-backed MoveOn and ACT managed to STEAL the election for their puppet Kerry, just as Soros stole elections in Eastern Europe!!!! Then we would be heading for Orwell's 1984, on a very fast track.
All Freepers should know that the "other side" says that it is Bush--and people like us--that are planning to steal the election!!! Because of some of my past connections, plus being an independent voter in a "blue state", I get e-mails all the time on some of their Election Day plans. I shall post some of them, on the appropriate threads (i.e., not this "vanity"), as I have time.

I find his "Bush is satan" and to blame for everything bad in the world is so sickening.
Wasn't that the most ridiculous sight? The media cams following the fleet of trucks filled with ballots on the freeway. Just like the flight of O.J. Simpson. Man they are really starved for news.
It will only be voter fraud when Bush wins. If, god forbid, Kerry wins there will have been ZERO voter fraud, voting machine errors, miscounted ballots, etc. The question is what are we willing to endure for the right man for the job?
I think that enough common-sense Americans of all political stripes have had enough of the Dems shenanigans and we'll see the President winning by a comfortable margin on election night. We could be looking at a surprise like the elections of 2002, but I understand everyone's apprehension of a repeat of 2000. The Dems are going to commit vote fraud on a scale we've never seen before. I don't think that's even up for debate. I'm just going to stay positive on all of this.

If Kerry wins, I plan on flying my flag at half mast for 4 years.
