Here's my meager prediction: The polls will show Bush "lost" the debate, but the polls will also show Bush gained ground because of it.

I need some statistical help with something from that debate. Kerry says we have lost 1.? million jobs under Bush. Yet more people in the US have jobs than ever in history. How exactly does that work?

That was reflected in a flash poll taken right after the debate. Of 23 people they split about 50/50 as to who won the debate but 17 said they were voting for W.

He's a fop, he's a dandy. He's arrogant. He talks to you like you need it explained to you that you might find a slice of bacon in a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. Kerry's condescending attitude is even worse than algor's.

Looks like Jonah wrote this before the ratings numbers came out. The debate got a 36 share while the two baseball playoff games only got a 16 share.
This rivals the first debate audience. But Jonah is correct on the substance.

"As for Iraq, that's even more muddled. It certainly is true that Iraq is going poorly in many respects."
I'm really getting tired of hearing people regurgitate this mantra.
We conquered a 29-year dictator's army in 29 days. MOST of the country is rebuilt or in the process -- new schools, hospitals. Work is rebounding. OF COURSE there are a few pockets of Ba'athists and terrorists from Syria and Iran. But that is far and away isolated and we are weeding them out.
It took our country over two years to debate and decide upon the Constitution. They think a country that was as oppressed and abused as Iraq is going to be fixed in a year or two?
Whether Iraq is muddled is a matter of personal perspective and hinges on what one can realistically expect. I, for one, think things are going well in Iraq considering the Herculean goal we set, the difficult obstacles, and how much success we've had.

This Guy Thinks Were All Idiots Dubya gets Kerry. Americans gotta love that.I'm sorry Jonah. I don't know what language this is supposed to be, but it certainly is not English. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that these scribblings were meant to be meaningful, I am at a total loss trying to parse this into meaningful statements. The standards at NR have plummeted since WFB left active editorialship.

John Kerry is a better talker.I just do not get this!! John Kerry is a boring, condescending DRONE when he talks!! I cannot even stand to listen to the man, so there's no way I'd even hear what he had to say.

Calvin Coolidge had two things Kerry lacks: integrity and a sense of humor. (He liked to play practical jokes.)

Every time I hear sKerry say " I have a plan" , I scream at the TV or Radio:
"Custer had a plan, too"!!!!!
Is that what he is going to tell leaders of nations all around the world if he gets into the White House? "I have a plan".
This sounds like McGiver on a global scale.....

Contrary to what the people who think George W. Bush is highly concentrated evil might believe, George W. Bush really is the more likable candidate. Objection. Assumes facts not in evidence.

Reminding voters of his grating billionaire wife is not wise politics, which is probably why he switched to talking about his mom.How do I love you TayRayZah? Let me count the ways? Is it because of the gleaming way that you look in the morning when we awake or is it how you slouch in your seat during my presidential debate? Could it possibly be because you are worth so many $$$$? Oh well, I really love my mom and she has meant a lot to me!!!!!!
I love it............

I agree .. because the poll internals have been giving Bush an extremely high edge. As far as ability to lead the country, ability to fight the WOT, trustworthy, means what he says, etc. Most of the scores I've seen on FOX say Bush is in the high 50's, and Kerry is in the middle 30's.
When Rush was talking about this (last week I think), he said that with these numbers in the internals, he cannot understand why the main poll is so close. I agree with Rush.
Also .. IIRC there was a thread today about the dems using the 2000 election model on which to base their polls for 2004. Evidently, they did the same thing in 2002 - and that's why they were so far off. If this is true .. Bush is way ahead.
