I personally think the first debate was a tie and the second debate GW up slightly but by the 3rd debate John Kerry was used to mop the floor.
Why?
GWs strong suit was supposed to be the first debate. Shouldnt he have won it?
Lets look at this for a minute. If you are an A student in math do you study for that test or do you study for the test in English where you are a C student?
GW and his team did NOT prepare him for debate 1 because his numbers were already up for this debate instead they have been preparing GW for this 3rd and final debate. Smart team.
I think the GW team knew John Kerry and John Edwards
the 2 johns :oÞ were going to loose it
big time.
Bush will not be declared the victor of any debate so long as the Leftist Media has a say in the matter. That's guaranteed.
The liberal media are snobs. There's a lot of bias against people who come across as "just plain folks," country, from the south. Bush has the manner of a down to earth, ordinary man, so he's going to get slammed.
Welcome to FR. Please don't start a thread with short statemens of opinion (otherwise known as "vanity" threads) - instead, please find a relevant thread already underway and post your comments there. Thanks.
I guess they didn't wire him in the first debate, huh?
When Kerry wins a debate, they call it for Kerry. When Bush wins a debate, they call it a draw. Hmmmm...wonder why?
In the first debate, Bush won in the first 90 minutes. Maybe you're only remembering the end momentum shift.
Actually they did, but all he was getting was static. So he had no idea what he was supposed to say. That's what all my liberal friends are saying, anyway.
Four years ago the media had no problem declaring Bush the winner in debates. And they were critical of Al Gore some times too. What has happened in 4 years??
Simple. Bush wasn't wired for the first debate. /s
It's tough when you are dealing with a liar, or someone who remembers things differently than they really are.
President Bush would rather DIE than LIE to WIN.
sinator Kerry would rather LIE and have YOU DIE, to WIN.
Just ask the Viet Vets and POW's, and our military in IRAQ.
We must have a different perception of the media. During that time, the media fell over itself praising Gore's "victories" in the debates.
And they were critical of Al Gore some times too.
Who? When? What paper?
What has happened in 4 years??
They found out that Bush was a man of his word. They also found out that Bush prefers substance over slickness. Hell, in the weeks before 9/11, the media was doing nothing but bellyaching about how "boring" Washington DC was now that Hollywood celebrities weren't being invited to parties!
The interesting thing is that these guys believe this stuff. Man, are they brain diseased.
I guess I missed those rules. Can you direct me to them?
I will just repeat that deliberate or not, Bush's "loss" of the first debate kept the DNC's money on Kerry's table when it was about to be yanked for the struggling senate candidates. Most of those races are shaping up in our favor. Murkowski still not up, but all the other Republicans up or tied. THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF BUSH HAD WON.
Could be he was workin' for a livin' while all Kerry was only campaigning.
The first debate was judged on style, not substance. Bush allowed Kerry to get away with contradicting himself on every issue. No one was really questioning Kerry's statements, so Kerry won.
Care to do the honors, Howlin?

Interesting theory -- but the MSM still falls over Carter to this day, he comes off the same way, and he actually is from the south. I guess the same could be said for the male Klintoon.
