Reeve, who was paralysed in a horse riding accident nine years ago...Maybe more money is needed to prevent horse riding accidents...

Maybe more money is needed to prevent horse riding accidents... Require mandadory seatbelts and roll bars on horses.

I like how they call him a "Kerry aide" - his adoring man-servant.

I'm a bit confused - could be the blonde hair :) - I thought that it was only FEDERAL money that wasn't allowed to fund stem cell research. Private money, state money and grants are all still able to fund the research. Am I wrong?

Under the Bush Administration, embryonic stem cell research is strictly limited to cells already in existence. Was that part of the statement by Mark Kornblau or was it a false claim by the author of this article? Either way, it's a misrepresentation or using the word the left seems to be so fond of using, it is a lie!
The limit placed by Bush was federally funding the research, not doing the research on lines outside of the ones specified by the law that created the funding.

I still can't believe he would say such a foolish thing. Even with stem cell research, there's NO guarantee that it really could help paralyzed people to walk.

This author feels very confident boasting the so-called virtues of stem-cells without any serious medical evidence to back up his claim. Obviously, he has bought the snake oil Edwards is peddling.

But the science could one day help find cures for Parkinsons disease, juvenile diabetes and Alzheimers disease. And that science is empowered by paying women to create embryos so they can be diverted to stem cell research!

The Kerry team has repeatedly promised that it would allow stem cell research if in power, opening the way for potential cures for diseases.
By contrast President George Bush has placed strict limitations on the use of the controversial science, which often uses human embryos.
The biggest contrast here is that Kerry promises. These promises have no substance. The Bush administration is the only administration ever to have specifically made the existing cell lines available for federally-funded research; the "strict" limitation has been on creating new lines and working on them using federal money. For people who are used to thinking that all their "good" ideas should automatically be funded by the federal government, ie, by someone else, it's not hard to see why they think there's a ban.
