"Am I the only one who feels sorry for his wife? "

I do if the wife is "still" in love with the man and had no idea of his philanderings(s) BUT sadly you'd be or maybe not be surprised how many women stay married for the financial security, family unity(kids, grandkids), etc., and are glad the old bugger is gettin it elsewhere. Such as life. And the mens view is, cheaper to keep her(the wife) and go play golf and um errr break for lunch, often.

O'Rielly turned me off a long time ago when he started getting so greedy. His website is useless unless you want to pay for any info. It's all about Karma.......

O'Reilly is on apparently live right now, 8:13 eastern time and he seems rather subdued and blank-faced, lacking his usual swaggering good humor. I await to see how he deals with this if at all tonight, on TV. Heard some of his radio show, and don't think he mentioned it at all---he had the usual taunting/flirting schtick going on with Lis Wiehl, though.
Maybe he'll save this story for the end of the show's "Ridiculous Item" segment.

In his complaint:

Then in January 2004, Mackris ultimately decided to leave the show to accept an even higher-paying position with CNN, Fox’s major competitor. A few months after leaving Fox, however, Mackris spoke with O’Reilly and expressed unhappiness with her new job at CNN. She said that her boss at CNN had been terminated for sexual harassment, and asked O’Reilly if she could return to The O’Reilly Factor at the higher salary she then earned at CNN. Mackris returned to Fox in July 2004 as an Associate Producer for The O’Reilly Factor at a salary of $93,200.

Prior to September 29, 2004, Mackris never complained to anyone in authority at Fox about sexual harassment by O’Reilly, despite having received and being well aware of the clearly written harassment prevention policies and procedures of Fox and its ultimate parent, The News Corporation Limited (“News Corp”).

Hill didn't have ANY proof. Only her word against Justice Thomas's.

Things turned out well for her.

Thomas was paticularily vunerable during his nomination. More so then O'Reilly is now. Moreover Thomas did become a member of the Supreme Court. As for Anita, she just became a matyr to left wing partisans.

Let me correct that. She called O'Reilly and asked to come back to CNN because her boss had been terminated due to a sexual harassment charge. I thought I read she filed the charge but I either misread it or I just can't find the article at this moment. O'Reilly's statement brings up her CNN boss's termination.

Two points about that; 1)So what. Why did she feel she had to leave just because her boss was fired? How does that affect her position at CNN? She never said she was being fired. 2) She claims O'Reilly was harassing her before she left. Right out of the Anita Hill text book she contacts her harasser and asks a job. It makes no sense for a woman who is truly being harassed to do so. Stay at CNN if it was so awful at Fox. She's playing games.

Man oh man. Lots of specifics there; of course, specifics can indeed be made up.

I think what bothers me most about the situation is that while all this was going on, she not only stayed, but also continued to go to dinner with him and allow herself to be put in all manner of potentially troublesome situations. Over and over and over and over. I'll wait to see how this plays out, but this same issue is what made Anita Hill totally non-credible with me. Thomas was allegedly this horrible pervert who said all these horrible things, yet she stuck to him like glue for ten years?

Who knows; twill be interesting to follow.

O'R 's been in the business a long time..Were he a predatory type, this wouldn't be his first lawsuit..i.e. you don't live a clean life as a bachelor for many years, then marry a very attractive younger woman, become a father, and THEN become a sexual predator...BTW..he met his wife on the job..at work..at FOX..

But that isn't really the issue - he either did what she has alleged or he didn't. Without tapes, she can't prove a thing and is therefore stupid to have filed the suit.

If her intent were to ruin O'Reilly, she would have filed the lawsuit in September. If her intent were extortion, her mob lawyer sits down with Roger Ailes and says "I want $60 big ones."

Then he goes to the press anyway.

I can't believe there are intelligent FReepers who don't see this for what it is. She has no case, or she would have filed it before O'Reilly called her bluff.

As it is, she went back to FOXNEWS, got the money she wanted, suffered no ill effects, sent an email to a former CNN co-worker that she couldn't be happier.

If there were any truth to this, Roger Ailes would have taken O'Reilly off the air.

This is pure political extortion. Bank on it.

Holy crap. She may have him dead to rights..... If she's got tapes, he's a goner.

Interesting that she left FOX/OF after the alleged harrassment had been going on for years, then returned after a few months, and then a few months later files the complaint?

Could she have related her stories to her colleagues at CNN, who suggested she make the ploy to return, this time armed with tape recorder?

The theory is correct. Look at the complaint. It links O'Reilly and FOX to Bush and compassionate conservatism. Truth doesn't matter, it is the image that they create that counts. They will not get the faithfull Fox viewers to change from Bush to Kerry over this but there are a lot of voters out there that THINK FOX/BUSH/CONSERVATISM/O'Reilly are all the same and if O get's hit it is a hit on FOX and a hit on Bush and a hit on conservatives and votes for Kerry.

She went out to dinner with him when she was working at CNN. She could have hung up the phone, he had no control over her job there. But she took the call. Please explain why.

No...the best scenario would be for Fox to put Bill on leave...and move their lineup around. If found guilty...Bill is gone one way or the other. If the heat gets to high...O'Really could be canned for breach of contract....I am sure their is a "values" clause in it.

As for bringing Roger Ailes up in this.....that alone is enough for me to sh**can the blow hard.
