"Even my volume of hate mail is increasing in intensity and venom. I don't get it."
My "barometer" for the last year has been my co-worker. I got teamed up with a strident, radical leftist (how else would you describe someone who sports "Buck Fush" and "Impeach the traitor" bumper stickers?).
I was new on the job and didn't want to make waves (I learned long ago to try to keep my private life private). He would go on endlessly about evil Bush this, and stupid shrub that. I pretended to be apolitical and ignorant of the issues (when in reality could kick his heiny all over the map).
He was a devout Deaniac. A little bit of him died the day that Dean dropped out. Much of the boastful rhetoric evaporated. It did return however (creature of habit and all). He added American flags to his leftist automotive "shrine".
Then, about three weeks ago he went quiet. The rants quit. The stupid, inappropriate jokes at our departmental meetings ceased. Two weeks ago he went on PTO (personal time off). He was gone for two weeks. When he returned the shrine was gone, the bumper stickers removed. He is introspective, detached, remote.
I think he suffered a personal crisis (emotional breakdown). I'm no shrink, but how else would you explain it?
The needle's spinning on my "barometer" and I'm paying attention!
Be verrry verrry qwiet........

"What are we going to do if Bush wins and these people get really violent? I've seen the reports of people breaking into republican offices, etc."First, good for you! Second, I am also glad as someone said already, that I am not the only one who is thinking this. The spoiled child of the Democratic Party is already starting to throw a major tantrum.
I have never given so much thought to getting armed for protection. This whole thing is just sickening, I mean what is wrong with these mental defectives??!!

Those people are traitors (Domestic enemies, Seditionists) and if they act up they will be ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED by the FBI, National Guard and citizen patriots. This is a time of war and it will be the worst mistake they will have ever made in their lives. A good place to start: your local ACLU offices. Clean the rats out.

Indeed it is time for "political cleansing" in America.

This guy was a Vietnam veteran too, and he made it sound as if it was the worst thing he ever did. How do you know this guy was really in Vietnam? You know, it's a popular thing, especially for homeless crackheads, to claim they were in 'Nam.'

The biggest fear and problem I have with the coming CWII is that in the 1800's the sides were drawn up geographically. This time, it will be ideology. And there are Conservatives living next to liberals.
It can't be a very long one based on the fact that there's little room for sides to form up nowadays.

"What are we going to do if Bush wins and these people get really violent?"Enforce the Law.
I wouldn't worry too much about dim lib violence when President Bush is reelected, I'd worry more about if the unthinkable should happen and sKerry wins, then there is little remedy or hope outside of a civil war.

There was a movie a few years ago with Stephen Segal where they had renovated The Rock and reopened it. It was a fun movie. But, one of the funniest things was the news broadcast. They had a scroll like FoxNews does. The bubblehead was doing her piece. There were a few stories that scrolled by. They were trying to get people to pay attention to her. I've only got CNN and MSNBC in my hotel, so I've got used to reading the scroll and ignoring the bubbleheads. So, I was reading the scroll. The last one, "Polar Ice Caps melt. Scientists blame global warming."

What are we going to do if Bush wins and these people get really violent? I've seen the reports of people breaking into republican offices, etc. If they get violent? Get violent back. You have the right to self-defense.

It's unbelievable that some people HATE this country so much. This guy was a Vietnam veteran too, and he made it sound as if it was the worst thing he ever did. Why are these liberals so IRRATIONAL? I get into debates here and real life with fellow conservatives and how is we are able to end up agreeing to disagree (if we do disagree) without someone looking like a rabid dog? Because...liberals hate God, themselves, anyone who disagrees with them, morality, personal repsonsibility, any amount of suffering, doing what is obviously right, along with hating freedom, this country, its soverignty and its history. And lets not even get started about abortion...their "so-called" "right"; that makes them the party of HATE and DEATH (minus Zell Miller of course). They are all overgrown, starved for attention and "validation", insecure, immature, brainwashed, dark souls; who call evil good, and good evil. To call them rabid dogs would be a compliment IMHO.
What are we going to do if Bush wins and these people get really violent? I've seen the reports of people breaking into republican offices, etc.
Well, think of it like this...how many liberals do you know that are in the NRA? (Disclosure: I am not advocating civil discourse or vigilante justice...just pointing out a fact :) )

The biggest fear and problem I have with the coming CWII is that in the 1800's the sides were drawn up geographically. This time, it will be ideology. And there are Conservatives living next to liberals. Its still geographic - just look at the county-by-county election map. Sherman's tactics would be appropriate in some cases. Conservatives in the countryside would most certainly take in those stuck in the deep blue zones.

My guess would be Memogate shook him to his very core--the core belief that the democrats are naturally decent and honest.
