The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

Then we should be upset this tape was shown, I heard the feds knew about it the day before and that's why they could autneticate it so quickly, especially if there is a 'go' signal we helped

From what I have understood the administration tried to stop al pain in the butt from showing it but they refused. The only hopefull thing I can think of right now is maybe the reason they didn't hike the alert is because they are on these jerks tail & want to round them up right before it happens.

I say its not Gadfly (can never remember the spelling) even more so now. About familar, this will sound crazy but I would swear that guy is an actor or someone very familar. It is really bugging me. On another subject, does anyone know what the hearing of three chimes signifies. While in my car today I heard three chimes. I thought I was near a church but wasn't and those chimes were in my car. Also, the radio was not on.

I saw the clips of the video on ABC yesterday in which someone calling himself "Azzam the American" was threatening Americans by promising to shed blood on the streets of America.

Isn't it sad how ABC is now giving airtime to these terrorists?

Although no one knows who this guy is, ABC paid $500 to get this tape from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Considering an average cost of one hour TV program in that region is about $3,000 to $4,000, there will be a lot of Pakistanis making videos for us if we are willing to pay this much money.

Will ABC buy a video from Pakistan speaking for peace and communal harmony? Will they be willing to at least air the beautiful work Pak-Americans are doing to build bridges of understanding? Of course not. A dog biting a man is not newsworthy.

But thanks to the terrorists who continue to use the beautiful name of my faith my neighbors will continue to be confused.

You are correct liberallyconservative. If we haven't learned to be prepared by now, heaven help us. Voting is a right and we must use it to voice our selection for those not only who rule our country, but who make the decisions for our cities, counties and states (including judges). If we haven't studied our voting guides or know which candidates are the best choice, we still have time to do our homework.

I, for one, am glad you're still here with us, monitoring the threads and am thankful for your excellent posts!

The Imam who was referenced in a Fox story yesterday was just on with Rita Crosby. He sounded very positive that it was Adam. He claimed that the hand movements and speaking style were the same. He even said that Adam did the same type of heavy breating when he got excited while talking.

Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.

Somewhat smiling, Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve observation.

This is true but remember that New Orleans is something like 10 feet below sea level. It is only protected by a series of levees that hold out the water. Blow the levees at certain points & many would not be able to get out in time.
