Bomb squads descend on Rex Putnam High School

Milwaukie, Ore. - Both a Portland bomb squad and a Clackamas bomb squad were called out to Rex Putnam High School after two suspicious devices were found.
The school had been closed today after school officials say they received two bomb threats through e-mail this week.
A search of the school's grounds was done this morning, which is when the devices were discovered - one inside the school and one under a bleacher on the football field.
"We did call in three bomb sniffing dogs and once those devices are detonated, we'll let the dogs go in and search for further devices," said Joel Manley with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. "We're hoping they won't find any, but if there are additional devices, they will be found."
A football game was scheduled to be played Friday night on the field, but that game has now been moved to Clackamas High School.
In addition, all activities at the school have been canceled for the weekend, including a dance that had been scheduled for Friday night.
A $250 reward was offered in the case to help police track down who may have sent the e-mail threats to the school.

Just a few words of encouragement to all aboard the TM. Through 20 threads and tens of thousands of posts, each here has contributed in their own way. And there is no way to determine the unknown thousands we have helped who have just dropped in or lurked. I truly believe our work is not in vain. So for all here who feel a little helpless right now, here's a few pointers to let you know there's always SOMETHING you can do.
First and foremost, we all need to avail ourselves of the privilege of voting on Tues. Nov. 2. This privilege was purchased with the blood of patriots, and we owe it to the continuation of democracy to exercise that right and privilege.
Secondly, we each need to prepare for ourselves and our families as best we can. Gassing up the car, stocking water, food and basic supplies is simply prudent. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
But most importantly, each and every one of us needs to continue our vigilance in our everyday lives. Armed with the knowledge we have gained from TM in the past year, we each can do our part. Not everyone here can be a cybersleuth or a weapons expert, but each of us has our own realm of operation and expertise. Not all of us work in a targeted field the way some here do, but we can each take note of our surroundings and be alert and vigilant. If your daily routine takes you past a chemical plant each evening, be on the lookout for strange activity. If it is your routine to walk at the mall each morning, be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. The list of potential targets is endless: chemical/nuclear plants, power grid, water supply, bridges, hospitals, schools, government offices, financial centers, etc. - you catch my drift. No one travels the exact same paths as anyone else here; we are each unique, and therefore are each uniquely qualified to do our part.
Thanks to everyone here for the past year's work. I have read almost every post from 20 threads, and I am much the wiser for it. Stay safe, everyone.

Bin Laden hiding along Pak-Afghan border’

On the same day Kuwait’s Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper quoted sources in Islamic groups as saying that Bin Laden was living in a safe place northeast of the Afghan capital, where he was being protected by a local tribe.
The sources said that Taliban leader Mullah Omar had also sought sanctuary inside Afghanistan. They added that he recently sent an envoy to three Gulf states, including Kuwait, to collect donations from jihad sympathisers. The envoy’s trip was facilitated by local contacts.
They revealed that an unnamed person who met Mullah Omar two weeks ago had also seen Bin Laden two and a half months ago. The man said that the Al Qaeda leader was in good spirits, adding that he closely followed the military actions of his followers.
Bin Laden’s number two Ayman al-Zawahiri was living in a different area of Afghanistan, revealed the same Islamic sources. The two men coordinated and exchanged information through well-trusted men. They added that both Al Qaeda and the Taliban were “regrouping” in order to launch “qualitative” attacks against US forces in Afghanistan.
The sources admitted that Al Qaeda was not capable of carrying out military attacks in Iraq, contradicting statements by interim Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi that Bin Laden had sent one of his followers to command operations in that country. afp

Has anyone reposted the source of the threat where it was claimed the next series of attacks would begin in Europe? I cannot find it.
I think the UBL 90 day truce expired at least a couple months ago (was the deadline mid-August?). So AQ might have some of its credibility on the line as they do not issue lots of timed ultimatums/ultimata (none that I recall offhand).
I didn't factor that into my thinking.
Also, with all the posts on timing of the 2 videos, it is interesting to me that the videos were released within a week of each other (ABC got theirs last weekend and held it for a couple days and the UBL one was received Friday?). And it was the week of a Ramadan eclipse. Maybe the timing of the initial attacks was disrupted and was to happen sometime this week

I think it was because your source was the Washington Post. Written as if they are speaking to DC residents, who are under Orange alert.
He is an all-American whitebread for sure. At least that is what he sounds like. I never heard a real accent either.
There is a report that at least one person who knows that CA guy Adam believes it is indeed Adam. I think we will find out soon enough. Yet I find it curious that the Feds have not ruled this in or out publically out, although I acknowledge that it is very early in the game. Or maybe they are casting a huge net to gain other information too, i.e., where he is, where the other off-camera speaker is, etc.
When zionforever posted the pics of the speaker's eyes in a close-up the other day, it occurred to me that the pics actually looked like they could be of Adam in a headdress! Not what zionforever intended, but...
BTW, one thought I had which I now dismiss was, imagine if that guy on the videotape was one of our own infiltrators, an undercover "lily white" alphabet guy selected by an unknowing al qaeda to make the tape!

WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden was trying to show Americans and the world in his taped message Friday that his al-Qaida terrorist network was still effective despite its loss of personnel and inability to strike inside this country since Sept. 11, 2001, a senior government counterterrorism expert said.
John Brennan, director of the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC) and a longtime senior CIA analyst, told reporters Saturday that bin Laden was trying “to demonstrate that al-Qaida, as an organization, is still effective, even though they have not, in fact, been able to do something here in the states.”
Bin Laden was “looking for a way to justify the organization’s continued existence and that there is still something there,” Brennan said. Although Brennan made no mention of Abu Musab Zarqawi, other intelligence analysts have noted recently that the Jordanian terrorist, who is active in Iraq, has positioned himself as a successor or competitor, although he recently swore fealty to bin Laden.
Brennan said there appeared to be “no specific threat information” in the bin Laden tape but that it could be related to another tape given to ABC News last week showing an anonymous man claiming to be American affiliated with al-Qaida and threatening attacks on Americans. Brennan said his agency was “looking ... very closely right now” at whether there is a relationship between the two tapes.
