The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

Man living in cave on Los Alamos lab land

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have evicted a man from a cave on Los Alamos National Laboratory land where they say he apparently lived for years with the comforts of home — a wood-burning stove, solar panels connected to car batteries for electricity and a satellite radio.

Los Alamos Deputy Fire Chief Doug Tucker said Roy Michael Moore's hideaway, which also was equipped with a bed and a glass front door, was discovered earlier Oct. 13 after a Department of Energy employee working at the Los Alamos site office noticed smoke wafting from the cave in a heavily wooded, steep canyon.

The employee reported the smoke to the fire department. Tucker said the smoke came from Moore's wood-burning stove.

Ten marijuana plants were found outside the cave. Moore, 56, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents. He pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.

The moderator shut down the EOM yahoo site in the early summer after the Aljernaan fiasco. I was a member, a mostly lurker type. He must have saved a member list and got my email from it. I know a lot of other members posted to the Threat Matrix. Wonder if they got this email too. I am curious myself as to why I was emailed as I was not have "top-billing" among the posters there.

It was found on Tuesday, the 26th.

Also just following a power outage across a good chunk of the northern portion of downtown Chicago. Area bounded by Ohio St.-Wabash-Maple-Orleans. No apparent cause that I've heard yet.

I agree, but I still think it is strange he reappears in my email months after EOM-Daleel site was ended, especially considering I was a virtual non-entity at that site. Surely someone else got this also.

Late to the news, was helping my church prep to move to new location. Trying to catch up. Two quick notes
1. Sahab tape yesterday has additional evidence of being valid - not good.
2. OBL tape has references to recent events - even less good.

Have been watching a lot of FOX TV the last couple of days and listening to the experts saying they believe this to be the most dangerous of times for potential terrorism. Be safe everyone - eyes in back of your heads and sharp peripheral vision at all times. Suggest prayer at every possible opportunity.
