The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

"Stolen truck found with ID A stolen Lansing truck containing airport ID badges was found Tuesday in Calumet City, along with one of the badges, police said.

Police recovered the white 2000 GMC flatbed truck at 560 Forsythe Ave. after a neighbor called police, Lansing Sgt. Dennis Murrin said.

The neighbor told police it had been parked there since Sunday, shortly after it had been reported stolen.

A vehicle ID badge for O'Hare Airport was found in the truck, Murrin said, but not badges for Midway Airport and a Chicago water treatment plant near Navy Pier.

Other equipment stolen from the industrial parking lot still is missing, including a trailer, backhoe and Bobcat loader, Murrin said.

Police have no suspects.

As smart as OBL is, he knows this already. I'd also bet that he doesn't care a whit and will attack anyway. He's posturing, probably in the hope that his influence will actually re elect GWB for the express purpose of providing an easier justification for ongoing action against us.

Methinks you give OBL too much credit. My own personal opinion is these goobers are tone deaf as to the actual mechanics of American society. When everyone in the past were worried about sporting venues being on the list of potential targets, I was thinking these cretins have no clue of what anything is in regards to American sports. I also noticed that the logo in the upper left hand corner is the same design - a smaller circle inside a larger circle - that I've seen on several jihadi websites posted here today by various TMers. Maybe it's some kind of lunar design incorporating both a full moon and a crescent.

Keeping your eye on the ball is key. I think OBL is thinking generally about the entire US, and not separating every state by their voting tendencies.

I think he has something large scale planned that will cover a lot of regions.

Well Truman, Kennedy, Johnson (aslo Eisnhower) helped subsidize the Shah. This guy can't feel good about that. Reagan, Bush Sr (also Clinton) followed (not necessarily spoke) a live and let live policy. Actually Reagan dealt with them. I actually believe they did like him.
The strange thing is Carter. He basically sold out the Shah and hung him out to dry to jump on the Ayatollah bandwagon. And they probably hate him most of all.

KylaStarr, London was certainly included some of the speculation of what the european hit would have been. Madrid however qualifies as that hit in europe in my opinion and now he is going to give them one more chance to accept his truce. Anyone else see 111 coming right at us?
