The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists.

Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits.

"It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel.

And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election.

There was short selling of Airline Stocks and as I recall also Insurance stocks. I need to look up the detailed info., but it was widely reported in the first weeks after 9/11. But info. regarding this died down after the first two weeks; similar to info. regarding the millions that were donated to the Red Cross.

U.S., Germany, Japan Investigate Unusual Trading Before Attack

Washington, Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Trading skyrocketed in options that bet on a drop in UAL Corp. and AMR Corp. stock in the days before terrorists crashed hijacked United and American airlines jets into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co., which occupied 22 floors of the 110-story 2 World Trade Center, and Merrill Lynch & Co., with headquarters near the destroyed twin towers, also experienced pre- attack trading of 12 times to more than 25 times the usual volume in so-called put options that profit when stock prices fall, according to Bloomberg data.

Now, securities regulators in the U.S., Germany, Japan and Hong Kong say they are investigating whether terrorists raised money from insider trading on their knowledge of attacks that devastated New York's financial district and closed U.S. stock markets for four days.

``They not only set out to destroy capitalism, but also to beat us at our own game,'' said Duke University law professor James Cox. ``These are people who hate capitalism and see that you can turn capitalism against itself.''

Some airline, insurance, and brokerage stocks had jumps in the days before the Sept. 11 attack in so-called put options, which profit when a company's shares fall.....

True enough, myr, but don't forget it all RF and, therefore, basically LOS. I recall that Idaho isn't too flat.

Lots of good mountain peaks with commanding views of valleys and plains. A WiMax tower at the south end of Pocatello would serve the whole valley including the big gap area around Inkom. Much of the center of the state is very flat Snake River plain. The major cities are along interstates I-15 and I-84.

Good lord...I had some moving around to do and stopped posting to take care of all that's involved in that only 4 months ago...at Thread 5! Talk about having to do some speed reading.

Anyway, considering the post leading to the link to this story, it's probably the school bus accident where some idiot tried to pass a school on the inside at a light and the bus was making a turn. There were only 9 students on the bus and none of them were injured.

What you heard was actual over the air reception of a radio signal in an area with a BPL test deployment. That is exactly what you will encounter if BPL is rolled out in your neighborhood.

Montgomery Police Shut Down Road (AL)

Montgomery police say part of Patrick Road is blocked off as of 6:30pm Thursday. That road is about 4 miles west of Mobile Highway. Officials tell WSFA 12 News, they are investigating a suspicious object in Hayneville Park, and they have told everyone living in that area to stay inside.
