The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. YOU Be The Judge and Get Informed!

ATLANTA (CNN) -- As more than one billion Muslims prepare to celebrate Ramadan, terror experts are mixed about whether the holy month is a tool for recruiting terrorists. Some terrorism experts and Islamic scholars say Ramadan gives extremists an opportunity to enlist new recruits. "It's a time which can be exploited by radical clerics to motivate individuals into taking action on the basis they are somehow serving their religion," says terror expert M.J. Gohel. And analysts see another temptation for terrorists: exploiting the Battle of Badr, a symbolic date in Muslim history, which falls near the U.S. presidential election. |

Assaults on Border Patrol agents up over last three weeks
Eleven Tucson Sector Border Patrol Agents have been assaulted in the last 20 days, officials say.
Most recently, a Border Patrol Agent in Nogales was assaulted Wednesday as he tried to arrest several drug smugglers near Amado, about 40 miles south of Tucson, said spokesman Andy Adame.
The agent saw 10 people carrying bundles of drugs on their backs near milepost 14 on Arivaca Road using a night vision scope, he said.
When he tried to stop them, the smugglers ran away but returned and fired at least three shots at the agent, who fired at least four rounds in return, Adame said. No one was injured.
"The Border Patrol is increasing the pressure daily on alien and drug smugglers," Adame said in a press statement. "Shooting at us is not going to discourage us from doing our job."
More agents and a Border Patrol helicopter went to the scene. They didn't find smugglers, but they did find eight bundles of marijuana, weighing 337 pounds, Adame said. The estimated value of the drugs is about $270,000.

"Missile found in house"
Interesting story. This man disposes of strange things (exact quote from article):
"says he was bringing his family's war survivors to the junk yard today,..."
He lives about 3 miles from where the grendaes were found. Hopefully the Waterbury PD paid him a visit.

I was thinking about putting together a list of searches in Arabic for future Threat Matrix threads. I put together a few to show the general idea here. There is certainly some interesting stuff to be found on Arabic sites. If anyone thinks this is a good idea, I would be open to suggestions for more words. The links here point to the Image search since the rest is just jibberish. ;-)

Good evening everyone.
Jihadi chatter has become eerily quiet.
Feels just like it did before 9/11.
To: Right_Handed_Writer
Yep. It's interesting.
Of course, when I clean house, it's straight old dusting and vacuuming.
How boring.

Or to put it in a different way, the boards seem busy to me.
Where are you looking that is quiet?
Freepmail is ok for this answer.
Thanks.

Interesting stuff about the repeaters on every other pole, didn't know that. Thanks. The problem with Satellite is that the uploads are through a dial up connection, downloads are fast though.

That sounded real bad, what was that, a test recording of a broadcast over powerlines? Hurt my ears.

I concur with your thoughts Mossad about it being eerily quiet.....I was also thinking...and I could be wrong...but didn't the market dip below 10,000 prior to 9/11? The DOW closed today at 9,865, and has been below 10,000 all week.

Thanks again Myrddin, I should have included a /saracasm with my earier post about a firewall, sorry about that.

Another strange occurrence tonight in Chicago. Monitoring Fire Dept frequency tonight and heard 6 consecutive false alarms, all reportedly from cell phone callers, all in a 4 square mile area just west of downtown Chicago. These calls all came in within a 30 minute time frame. By my quick count that tied up 9 engines, 7 trucks, 2 rescue squads and 4 battalion chiefs. Needless to say the chiefs and the dispatcher were quite pissed as these consecutive false alarms piled up.

Weren't there some strange selling patterns? Like dumping airline stocks? Or is that a myth?
