Inm 2000 alone, the Catholic bishops gave $472,000 in Campaign for human Development grants to ACORN - - the leftwing group now in the news for massive voter fraud.

How much good could have been done with this money had it been doinated to right to life groups?

The Campaign for Human Development needs to be scrapped.

Yes. And for the record our good Pope has sided against Liberation Theology.

I raised the point last night on a thread that ACORN was a communist org. and they were funded in part by CHD. Sounds like the issue is reverberating pretty well this evening!

this is a planned program of disobedience and violation of federal law in mass by the dnc/kerry/moveon.org.

The evil-spawn "bring it all down" 60's generation coming to their last full flowering, mustering to their side two generations of incredibly ignorant, fully inculcated sheeple. I can't wait to see these flowers finally omposting -- and their unfortunately brainwashed next-generations fully recovered.

The Campaign for Human Development is a fraud itself. I never contribute.

Why? Did they molest ACORN too?

How about the churches that are claiming they don't have the money to pay the lawsuits they are losing over the molesting of children?

Secular priests do not have to take the vow of poverty, my friend. Order priest Usually do. The Church does have to exist in the world and to do so it has to control money.

Please note that the $472,000 WAS ONLY FOR ONE YEAR. ACORN gets about a 1/2 MILLION every year. Follow the links below!

If you look at some of those settlement figures you'll see that the $472k doesn's stack up.

Don't get me wrong though, the Acorn money is needlessly spent at best.

I guess so. It's a fund to which people contribute anyway. Just seems like the bishops might be a bit more frugal.

Thanks for the links! I will bookmark and read them tomorrow.

This is BIG! The news of this scandal has to get out to the people of every Diocese. Especially the ones that contribute to the radical leftist group ACORN.

As a born and raised Catholic...and watching the frustration in my mom...a devout chuch goer her entire life, I gotta say that elements within the church are breaking a lot of hearts...every day and every way..really sad.

There are hundreds of bishops in the country I believe. Somehow a few liberals get through and I suppose there are those who let these sort of decisions up to others more or less and don't watch it all too close.

TO ALL Catholics:

Click on each of the links below. It will show what organization got grants from CCHD in your diocese. Google that organization and make sure it is not pro-abortion. If we each do our own diocese, we can get through a lot of these.

A couple of year's we found out that a CCHD grant from the Cleveland Diocese was supporting an umbrella organization that had NARAL as a member.

If you go to the ACORN web site and read the section about who ACORN is, you will find that they are associated with unions and are willing to use tactics that may result in going to jail. It makes me wonder if ACORN is associated with the union vandalization of GOP headquarters in various states.

Do you have any more recent figures than from four years ago?

The site says:

We have analyzed over 410,000 pages of IRS documents to create this database, and new information will be added every month.

Lots of months have gone by. Any other site with information?

BTW, it's not even called 'Campaign for human Development' anymore. The name changed around 1999.

Given its long support for ACORN, and other reasons, I haven't contributed in years.

CCHD is horrible about detailing which groups get money from them.

Which is why as a Catholic, I give no money in any special collection, even Peter's Pence. I just don't trust the liberals, who seem to run the money, with my gifts. I don't withhold my gifts to my own church but I have to follow my conscience and my conscience has told me to throw those envelopes in the trash.
