Hopefully with Pickens donations the Swifties will be able to pick things up a few notches over the next three weeks.

I think that was Buffett.

If every Freeper sent the Swifties 5 bucks, they could run lots more ads...

Buffet likes high taxes, especially inheritance taxes because it allows him to accumulate businesses with his insurance company's money.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Pickens is one of the more "evil" Republican billionaires. He practically turned Mesa Oil into a brokerage house by buying up companies just to break them up and sell the parts. He was about to take over Gulf Oil Corporation in 1983 (hostile takeover) when Chevron Corporation stepped in and merged with Gulf in what was the largest corporate merger ever at the time.

One good thing about campaign finance reform: instead of sending money to the RNC to run ads oh-so-carefully designed not to offend tender sensibilities, conservatives can send their $$$ to the Swifties to run hard-hitting ads which the RNC can disavow any responsibility for.
The politicos are going to want to de-fang the 527 groups. The bigger threat to the established political class is what happens when the 527's are still around next primary season, and aren't shy about supporting the candidate of the conservatives' choice -- without regard to what the RNC has to say about it

Hopefully with Pickens donations the Swifties will be able to pick things up a few notches over the next three weeks. I too hope they can produce another hard hitting piece. But, cynic that I am, it will be judged by the MSM as just another hate Kerry spot by men who are way past their prime. What is needed is not another "this is the real Kerry in Vietnam", but a release of his navy records (which isn't going to happen unless someone breaks the rules and leaks them), or film of his actions back in this county (such as burning a flag, or even more outrageous, urinating on it). Without such evidence, I doubt, sadly, that the Swift Boat ads will have much effect on the electorate.

Actually Pickens did support Kerry in the past and made political contributions to him just a few years ago... looks like Pickens isn't too happy with Democrats lately, though :-)
