Then the rest of the state can be North California.
BTW I'd agree with your suggestion if we could keep a section of coast. We conservatives need a deep water port.
North California has been a front porch topic for years.
I remember listening as my Grandpa talked about it with his buddies.
North Cali would need to extend down to SF for economic purposes and who wants SF?
Not all of us here in America's Finest City are looney Lefties...in fact, Bush garnered more votes per county in San Diego last election than in Northern California.

WHOAH! San Diego is Conservative! Duke Cunningham and Duncan Hunter are House reps from here. San Diego County went to Bush in the last election! Even went to Dole!
The north valley is that area north of Sacramento. At best these counties are Central California.
I'm one who fled the Bay Area for the Central Valley and I would vote for a state split in a heartbeat. The only problem is that it would NEVER happen. The libs in the cities know that they control us and they have no reason to agree to letting us go. They'll just take our water, pollute our air, and tell us that it's our problem, all while announcing that we must accept gay marriage and insane anti-business regulations.
LEts make the rest of the state Southern California.
:o)
Are you NUTS? You'd be willing to give up San Diego AND Orange Cty???
So its the one conservative large city in the state, right?
heres how the recall went down........

But thats cuz' they aint counting the dead voters in the cemeteries for the RATS...
Interesting, but the GOP should not put too much into the recall of an especially inept and unpopular governor and the election of a very popular movie star.

HEADS-UP!
ON NOW!
I don't think this will help Bush win the state, but if it puts more Republicans in the state assembly, state senate, and increases their number in the congressional delegation then it will be a positive result.
ON NOW!
