We're used to seeing liberal movie stars getting politicalnow a conservative from Hollywood is asking you to vote.
In a rare conservative push from Hollywood, Jim Caviezel the man who played Jesus in "The Passion" has produced a streaming e-mail campaign to encourage millions of Christians to register now and to vote in November. The crusade is being organized by Redeem the Vote.
The message is simple: "Hi, I'm Jim Caviezel. Please register to vote and cast your ballot on November 2."
Randy Brinson of Redeem the Vote said it is rare for a conservative movie star to be heard above the din of liberal actors.
"He's gone out and taken a risk," Brinson said, "[and] taken a stand for Christ. I think it's imperative that we as Christians rally behind him . . . All the energy that was put into "The Passion" to get people mobilized, to get people energized to understand what out Savior did for us, that needs to be turned in to action."
Caviezel's message has been e-mailed to millions of potential conservative voters, who simply need to open the e-mail to hear his plea. Peter Brandt, senior director of government and public policy at Focus on the Family, is impressed.
"I think it will be very effective," Brandt said. "This is a tremendously creative way to reach out to people and remind them of the importance of voter registration and of voting."
He said it's a message the real Jesus would endorse as well.
Prior to enlisting Caviezel, Redeem the Vote had already registered close to 50,000 voters on their Web site and at Christian concerts. Brandt, meanwhile, said it's not enough just to register you have to also show up at the polls on November 2.
Brandt also added that the voter registration deadline in almost all states is coming up very soon so don't miss your chance to vote. TAKE ACTION: Focus on the Family has created a voter registration Web site called iVoteValues.org.
The site offers a step-by-step method to help you when you go to your local board of elections office.
In Atlanta Metro and yes it is a Legionaires of Christ School. Their order provided the Catholic Priests that were on the set of the movie which is one of the reasons he came to the school.
NeverGore :^)
It doesn't get much better than a man who has character, integrity, and the courage of his convictions...and easy on the eyes as well.
I'll spend my hard earned money to go to his movies, and buy his DVDs.
Too young for ME, my 14-year old daughter likes him, though....
BTW we were all in love with David Cassidy when we were kids... and Bobby Sherman...and Davey Jones.... (showing my age, huh?)
The Tiger Beat Crew of the 70's!
Who is it?
But we're not old! Not at all, Nope! Those pictures of David Cassidy sure bring back memories. The Monkees, Bobby Sherman, (remember "Here Come The Brides"?)oh so many!
Something big with hair on his chest...
Luciano Pavarotti.
De Niro is good. Needs fattening up, though.
It's just that not to often do you find a man especially in Hollywood who is goergous, has moral conviction is not afraid to say he's a man of GOD....
The kind GOD truly created when he thought of "Man"
That is one fine looking man.
And a great actor to boot. I just loved him in the Count of Monte Christo
wow.
Johnny Depp is left in the dust...
Depp couldn't hold a torch to Jim Caviezel !!
thanks for posting...
I heard this when (AFAIK) it first ran on Focus on the Family News
over KKLA 99.5 FM in Los Angeles.
Nice to see someone out of Hollywood that isn't a freaky lefty
Jim Caviezel would be perfect as Superman! I haven't heard anything about that though...
