Probably the most important Senate race this year, John Thune is making headway in his quest to defeat, once and for all, notorious Senate obstructionist Tom Daschle:
SIOUX FALLS The John Thune for U.S. Senate campaign today released polling numbers showing Thune leading Tom Daschle 50-47 in one the nations most closely watched Senate races.
The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies (POS), surveyed 600 likely voters September 21-23 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent. These numbers follow another POS poll released in late August, which showed Thune with a 50-48 lead over Daschle.
Thunes message of independence, fighting for and being rooted in South Dakota are hitting home with voters, said Dick Wadhams, campaign manager for Thune. Its time for a change, time for South Dakota to have a Senator who says what he means and means what he says, in both South Dakota and Washington D.C., added Wadhams.
With less than six weeks to go before the November 2nd election, having spent millions of dollars and having run television ads since July 2003, the reigning Democrat Senate Minority leader is trailing his opponent. These numbers have to be extremely disheartening for the Daschle camp, said Wadhams.
While this is a good start, the Thune campaign will need a lot of help to score a final victory in November.
Thune needs help in the following areas:
Recruiting Volunteers
Organizing door-to-door campaigns
Making phone calls to voters on behalf of campaign
Working precincts on election day
Placing yard signs
Driving voters to polls on election day
And participating in campaign rallies
Precinct work is probably the most important area -- especially considering the tremendous potential for vote fraud in South Dakota (Thune was defeated in 2002 by massive vote fraud on Indian revervations).
So, please click here and help John Thune to beat Tom Daschle in any way you can!
Of course, if you don't live in South Dakota, there are other ways to help defeat Daschle, including letters to the editor and informing voters in SD about the REAL Tom Daschle.
FYI..HEADS up!!..C-Span 2 will broadcast the debate tonite..I think at 10Pm..one or two hour tape delay..there are several senate debates on tonite..
bump!
As if Daschle will return to South Dakota after the election if he loses. He doesn't even own property in this state and shows a voting address at his mother's home in Aberdeen.
I should probably disclose the fact that I have donated a few hundred dollars to Thune.
so who will be minority leader in Senate if Daschl falls? Hillary, maybe?
I have often thought that FR needs a daily thread on televised & radio broadcasts that might be of interest to our base. The only way I usually pick up on programming is from FR.
Thune BTTT!!!!
One thing more certain than the reelection of Daschle: no matter what, Daschle will remain in Washington in 2005. He will not be coming back to SD any more than J. Bennett Johnston, Jr., returned to LA or J. William Fulbright came back to AR after their Senate careers ended.
POS = Public Opinion Survey
POS = Tommy boy Daschhole also (Piece of S**t)
oops! Public Opinion Strategies, not Survey
Does Tom live in South Dakota?
Tom and his wife built a very large $2 million home in Washington a couple years ago. Tom's wife makes big money as a lobbyist in Washington.
After Thune defeats little Tommy Daschle, I don't think Tom is moving back anywhere.
Unfortunate acronym.
C-span's schedule is hard to post in advance, becuase they have to cover every minute the House and Senate are in session..thus they oftwen have to tape many important events and show them later..
Harry Ried (D-NV), most likely.
Don't you mean send Tom Daschle back to the D.C. suburbs? He is no more of South Dakota than Al Gore is of Tennessee.
ATTN. MONTANA REPUBLICANS!!!!
I'm traveling to Rapid City the last week in October to help with the campaign. I'm in Bozeman. Any other Montanans (Helena, Butte, Billings?)

This is the most intriguing Senate race in the nation. Volunteer and participate in the defeat of this smarmy little obstructionist.
btt
I encourage others to do the same. This is perhaps the most important election in the nation outside of the Presidency.
Give until it HURTS!
