BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. marines engaged in heavy clashes with scores of insurgents near a mosque in western Iraq on Monday, leading to U.S. air strikes which damaged the mosque and left it ablaze, the U.S. military said.
A U.S. military spokesman said marines came under fire from around 100 insurgents near the town of Hit, about 107 miles west of Baghdad, and engaged in an hour-long firefight.
Air support was called in after the guerrillas took up positions around a mosque in the town. "The mosque is partially damaged and currently on fire," the spokesman said.
Was just asking was there anything to the story. You are the type of person who is gonna be way suprised when hanoi john takes the White House on November 2.
We should at least have doused the fire with some napalm!
Slick Willie shut down the entire Minuteman Wing there (150 silos) while he was pres.
When the street light flicker bringing on the night
Well they'll be slipping into darkness slipping out of sight
All through the midnight
Watch 'em come and watch 'em go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
Have you ever notices that many of the Jihad leaders are the reverent imams themselves? Sounds lie amny mosques are the command and conrol center, not just an empty shell.
Not true. There is a good purpose to it. To destroy the jihadists, to drive their collaborators before you, and to hear the lamentations of their media! Allahu Fubar!
