BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. marines engaged in heavy clashes with scores of insurgents near a mosque in western Iraq on Monday, leading to U.S. air strikes which damaged the mosque and left it ablaze, the U.S. military said.
A U.S. military spokesman said marines came under fire from around 100 insurgents near the town of Hit, about 107 miles west of Baghdad, and engaged in an hour-long firefight.
Air support was called in after the guerrillas took up positions around a mosque in the town. "The mosque is partially damaged and currently on fire," the spokesman said.
It was a rumor, started by the Kerry crowd as a response to the FACT that two objects, a pen and some type of card, were seen ON CAMERA, and discussions ensued about the possibility they are a 'cheatsheet'.

Also Sunday, clashes broke out between U.S. forces and insurgents in Hit, west of Fallujah, killing one Iraqi and wounding two, police 1st Lt. Muhsin Nassir said. The U.S. military did not immediately comment on the clash about 100 miles west of Baghdad.
They looked into and found that it was his backbone. As it turns out only one candidate in the debate has one.

Killing or neutralizing ALL the terrorists necessary to stablilize a democratic, prosperous and autonomous Iraq is our mission. And, unfortunately, there are going to be deaths and casualties of innocent Iraqi citizens in the process. That's War. But, we are fighting the terrorists, not the Iraqi people, and there is an annoying little group of Freepers who just can't seem to get that through their thick skulls.

That's exactly the way I see it. Does anyone seriously think they, given the chance, would not attack our churches to pursue us? That crap got our people killed in Najaf. They would come out to shoot and then run back inside knowing they were safe. PC run amok. OH!! I am SO sorry!! I was apparently speaking ill of the people who only want to live in peace and tolerance. I just now remembered that our soon to be new leader referred to them as only a nuisance. I am so sorry to anyone that was offended by my rightwing, redneck, unsophisticated view.

There are thousands of mosques and islamic centers in the United States that will have to be eventually be razed.
After a thorough investigation, US airmen admitted they saw the word "Hit" on the map, and assumed that was the intended target.
I'm sure a large "fuel air explosive" will put the fire out and it should be done right away. Heck why not use them to prevent fires in general.
