With her energy and with the way her husband and party leaders treated her --- why doesn't she expend some of that energy against the black males in the African nation who can't seem to control themselves. How about going after those who mutilate young girls?
The lady IS an idiot, but there probably wouldn't be much change if your conditions were made. If everybody stopped injecting drugs and stopped having anal sex, THEN there would be great inroads.
I could have anal sex with my wife 5 times a day and I would never get AIDS.
Its not the type of sex you have, its WHO you have it with.
Well, if she's talking about Africans then she is right, but that would be from tribal and civil wars.
-"Us black people are dying more than any other people in this planet."-
That's right...Us are dying...
Oh, cripes! Good thing it wasn't the Nobel Grammar Award!
carter is an idiot, carter won the nobel prize, she won the nobel prize, ergo, she is an idiot. Simple logic.
You kidding?
It's a joke. Unless you're far left, preferrably communist, you haven't got a chance at an award.
"Perhaps, the death rate from aids could be lessoned if they kept it in their grass skirts?"
That's what I SCREAM at the tv every time they talk about sending more and more money down the tubes to Africa.
" Do you mean left wing Literature Laureates"
Yes, I do. The literature prize USED to mean something. It hasn't for a while.
VS Nipaul and Dereck Walcott are hardly left wingers, but I can't say the same for Toni Morrison. She's a nice lady but I have a hard time reading her books.
Yes, there are still occasional exceptions.
Are you trying to argue that the literature prize doesn't go to left-wing writers a majority of the time? If so, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find many, especially here, who would argue on your side.
This is from Smithsonian Mag..(Top of the Google page.)
"Did members of the Swedish Academy understand just how reactionary Naipauls views are, given the current climate, and then courageously award him the prize anyhow? It would be pretty to think so, but the evidence suggests that the members misunderstood or misread Naipauls message. The Nobel citation singled out the authors novel/memoir The Enigma of Arrival (1987) for special praise and described it as "an unrelenting image of the placid collapse of the old colonial ruling culture and the demise of European neighborhoods." This summary suggests that Naipaul is somehow celebrating that colonial "collapse" and "demise" from the perspective of a onetime outsider who has lived to see the interments of the old oppressors"
