Today's New York Post includes an editorial that finds it unfathomable that bias against the GOP by the mainstream media is as open and as blatant as it is during this election cycle.
Though many in the press deny this bias, Newsweek editor Evan Thomas all but confessed the bias on this week's edition of PBS' Inside Washington.
"The media, I think, wants Kerry to win. And I think they're going to portray Kerry and Edwards I'm talking about the establishment media, not Fox as being young and dynamic and optimistic, and there's going to be this glow about them, collective glow."A memo from ABC News Political Editor Mark Halpern surfaced on The Drudge Report on Friday. Halpern's memo, to the chagrin of ABC, all but told reporters to be harder on Bush than on Kerry.
An internal memo written by ABCNEWS Political Director Mark Halperin admonishes ABC staff: During coverage of Democrat Kerry and Republican Bush not to "reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable."This rings true when you look back at ABC News over the course of the past year, most notably at their daily political news column, The Note, back on February 10.The controversial internal memo obtained by DRUDGE, captures Halperin stating how "Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his efforts to win."
But Halperin claims that Bush is hoping to "win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions."
Like every other institution, the Washington and political press corps operate with a good number of biases and predilections. The overriding evidence shows that ABC News obviously has a liberal agenda, geared toward removing the current Administration from office by any means necessary, and they won't hesitate to use underhanded and unethical means to do so.They include, but are not limited to, a near-universal shared sense that liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion, and religion are the default, while more conservative positions are "conservative positions."
It still has a hard time understanding how, despite the drumbeat of conservative grass-top complaints about overspending and deficits, President Bush's base remains extremely and loyally devoted to him -- and it looks for every opportunity to find cracks in that base.
More systematically, the press believes that fluid narratives in coverage are better than static storylines; that new things are more interesting than old things; that close races are preferable to loose ones; and that incumbents are destined for dethroning, somehow.

Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
I bet 5 bucks that three gray-haired anchors will commit suicide live on the air, this Nov 3.
ABC News Indoctrinating the Masses...
I doubt it -- they'll have already been upstaged by Qadie AlQoriq on The Today Show, and her on-air suicide.
LOL! I would pay $5 bucks to see it!
Here is hoping you are right!!!!
Remember Peter Jennings was making his opinion of Bush obvious from the first few hours of 9/11. He was *itching about Bush not flying directly back to Washington when he left the school in Florida. He felt it was more important for Bush to stand in Washington (where it was still dangerous as far as we could tell at that time) as "speak" to the people that stay safe in Air Force One and make arrangements from a secure location.
I haven't watched ABC News since that day. Jennings is a pompous fop. Now we know that all of the news department feel justified in telling us "all the news that the stupid public can understand". I am not so stupid that I would ever watch an ABC program again. Well, there goes CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC (most of the time), NBC (most of the time), and if Fox doesn't get its act back together, they will be on the list as well.
"I would pay $5 bucks to see it"
Don't be so cheap. I'll go $5.50.
I'll raise you a buck!
If I lived in New York I would vote in my pajamas and then when Bush wins, I would visit all of the morning news shows wearing a T-shirt with "Mission Accomplished" on it.
I would go $10 a piece.
He thinks? . . . He thinks???!!! As for the young and dynamic part, isn't Kerry OLDER than W? (not to mention he looks even more old due to his cadaver-like, preserved-in-formaldehyde appearance). Not to mention the dynamo aspect--where is it, I'm still waiting. It's something you either have or you don't, just like star quality.
Well, I didn't want to spend to much because their lives aren't really WORTH that much!
I just did a google search.
JF Kerry born December 11, 1943.
GW Bush born July 6, 1946.
So, Kerry is about 2-1/2 years older than Bush.
Kerry, young? Kerry looks as old as the hills. Of course, that is why his handlers have him windsurfing and playing touch football on the tarmack. He just looks goofy!
BUMP!
Pray for W and Our Troops
"For me, the most stunning moment of the whole evening was when George Bush was asked to name three mistakes that he has made ... and the President couldn't even name one mistake." John F. Kerry
1) Charlie Gibson probably read the Mark Halperin memo and picked the question for a reason.
2) Ever been in a job interview where they ask you for your biggest weakness, or your three worst mistakes? What would an expert advise you do to?
3) This was clearly a "gotcha" question for our President because the flip side was not, "Mr. Kerry name three of YOUR mistakes", it would be "Mr. Kerry please comment on the President's self-admitted mistakes, and please pile on"
4) At least ABC & See-BS should have the common decency to register as a 527 organizations.
I haven't watched ABC, NBC, CBS national news shows for 30 years or more. Are they still on the air? Suggested action: if you own the stock(s) of their parents, sell them: Disney (DIS) is ABC; General Electric (GE) is NBC; and Viacom (VIA) is See BS. Also I suggest to all www.federalist.com which chews up the media and the Demo Rats with free online analysis delivered to your email. Daily newspapers are a waste of money: get all news online about two days sooner than "front page" of Daily Rag.
Hey Fester, we can get our news from ABC as well. I`ve been trying to point out a 1999 ABC news report about Iraq+OBL=IN BED. The local guy in Pittsburgh(Jim Quinn) played this a few times on air, he finally has a direct link to it. Now this isn`t earth shattering news, it`s just another instance that shows a definite liberal bias against our President. They must have forgotten they did this report or something.
http://www.warroom.com it`s in mp3 format, the link is top center of the page under the crawl if you`re interested.
