Bush 1206 Kerry 1190
:rollin
Here is what we also know from New Yorker Magazine and UPI in articles from January of 2004.
-- Bush's SAT scores are higher than Bill Bradley's, Paul Wellstone's, and John Kerry's.
-- Bush scored a 1206 on his SAT, 566 of 800 on verbal and 640 of 800 on math. [Since the SAT's scale has since been "recentered," Bush's score is more like a 1300 today.]
-- Bush's verbal score would place him between the 84th and 92nd percentile of college-bound students, or the 93rd to 97th percentile of ALL high-school seniors taking the exams, the percentile usually used.
-- His math score would also place him between the 84th and 92nd percentile of college-bound students, or the 94th to 98th percentile of ALL high-school seniors taking the exams, the percentile usually used.
-- Using one method to extract IQ's from these SAT scores, Bush's IQ would be somewhere between 124 and 137. Hardly a dunce, that's at least in the top six percent of Americans.
-- We all hear of Bush's supposed college mediocrity, but in reality his "worst" courses were two C-minus scores. Accounting for grade inflation, Bush's worst grades are around today's B-minuses.
Recentered SAT: 1300 IQ: 124-137 Stupid: Definately not.

The Army General Classification Test which I believe was used by all of the services. I took it in the Marine Corps during a whole day of testing early on in boot camp.
The GCT part was a math test, a verbal test a pattern analysis test IIRC. I got a 142 GCT score but am not sure how that would stack up in comparison to an IQ test.
They also had tests on topics such as mechanics, electronics, Morse Code and other stuff that I've forgotten.
One thing I'm sure of----------everyone would have done a little better if they had more sleep and were not being terrorized by the DIs :
I'd bet FR has a few dozen 160+ IQs. For one thing, it should be fairly obvious for a number of reasons that the intellectual profile of a typical FR reader is *not* the same as the general population. I'm not saying conservatives are inherently smarter- I also don't believe websites for science , chess, classical music, or theater would have a "typical" intellectual profile either. I would expect, however, that they would draw disproportionately from the high side of the curve, and less from the low side.
Doesn't seem like an unreasonable leap to me...
President Bush got a bachelor's degree from Yale and a MBA from Harvard. If he's so stupid then what does that say about degrees from Harvard and Yale?
'Maroon' for 'moron' even appeared in classic WB cartoons.
I believe it's from the Bugs Bunny cartoon, in which he would frequently say, "What a maroon." FReepers are not misspelling 'moron.'
Amazing how often a little boast about intelligence includes a glaring typo (or arithmetic mistake). Must be God's way of humbling us when we need it most.
I've almost learned to give it up. :)
LOL!
Kerry graduated from Yale, why did he go to law school at Boston University rather than Harvard which is also in Boston?
............
probaly coudn't get in-
but Bush did - got a degree from both Yale and Harvard -
And GoreBore? Didn't he flunk out of Divinity School?
Though to tell the complete story, my grades were better than his, and my Law Boards were at the 99.5% level, which I'm pretty sure were better than his. (And he's never even had a Supreme Court case, much less than won a bunch of them. But who's counting. LOL.)
Kerry was a bright guy -- that was the price of admission. But he was, properly viewed, a waste of skin. From what I see now, he still is.

"Huge" and "seriously" are also up there, but it's intentional. Or so it seems!
"Just wondering how one would extract an IQ from an SAT score. The SAT tests knowledge, not intelligence. Using an IQ test or an LSAT test, I could see... Not sure how they do it with SAT tests. Anyone know?"
I've read that the sections of the SATs that most closely correlate with IQ are the analogies. Figures that they're doing away with them. There is a formula that someone devised to correlate SAT scores and IQ, but I'm not sure how valid it is. In my case, my IQ is way higher than the SAT score I'd be predicted to achieve under the formula. I did fine, but not even close to what I should've gotten.
Btw, if anyone wants to take a fun online IQ test, go to this link and scroll down to start the test:

I can totally relate. Depending on the test, I have scored between 132 and 152. However, I think at a different speed than I speak or write and often find stupid things spewing out of my mouth. I always use myself as an example when liberals I know talk about the stupid things Bush says. I've learned to keep quiet and choose my words carefully when first meeting people. Unfortunately, poor W doesn't quite have that option.
Yep. This is difinutly, seriesly hugh.
"The stupidest freeper would very likely be around 110.
Some of them, I am confident, are in the upper 170 range"
Doubtful. Only 1% of the population measure above 137 and about one in a million measure above 170. Maybe we all just sound smart :)
I certainly can
Went to college and got a Bachelor's but never took an SAT; I don't know my IQ, but my husband's is something in the neighborhood of 150. We know our share of fighter jocks and former figher jocks who are now admirals. They are all VERY highly intelligent. I expect Dubya's true IQ is as you say, in the 150s. It seems that one has to be wildly intelligent, fast-thinking, mathematically astute, and have an above-average knack for 3-dimensional thinking to master jets. Me, I gotta stop and think which way is left and which way is right -- spacial thinking is not my strong point! Then again, I can type almost 90 words a minute and play keyboard Bach, so my right and left sort of merge!!
Well, it is easy to see why you would think that considering that every post like this brings out the multitudes with their IQ's of 130+ and SAT's of around 1590. LOL
