Above isa cut 'n paste of what appears on the NYTimes website as of Sat., 1:12PM EST. Since there's nothing our friends at NYT can find wrong about the president this time around, they've got to stick in the tale about "the bulge."
Above, notice the first star bullet, titled "Mystery of the Bulge." Specifically, it's about the internet conspiracy bunk going around that Bush may have been wearing a receiver during the first debate.
Folks, the first debate. Folks, a looney, discredited tale. But, our friends at the NYT decided to put it on the front page of their website. Amazing.
Is someone over at NYT actually supervising what gets posted on their website?
Someone alert MRC pronto. ###
the more bitter the tone the better W did .... get it..... this is just more spin ..... W can handle them...... we dont need them....... we can spread the Good Word......
What They're Saying About President Bush's Decisive Victory
NBCs Tom Brokaw: "Well, I Think that the President stepped up his game tonight, and I think that he came with a game plan in mind, and tried to execute it on that stage."
ABC's George Stephanopoulos: "I Think President Bush was most effective, is when he brought people into the Oval Office, talked about meeting with the Iraqi Finance Minister, talking about going to the Situation Room and talking to General Tommy Franks, and then, finally, also, bringing up Senator Kerry's Senate record. But you did see, I think, a lot of skill out there tonight."
USA Today: "Bush appeared more relaxed and forceful."
The New York Times' Katharine Q. Seelye: "The format served [President Bush] well. He looked comfortable and sounded confident."
NBC's Tim Russert: "George Bush was more energetic."
New York Times columnist David Brooks: "So I think overall, the effect of the debate will to be to give the Bush campaign a boost."
Columbus, OH Undecided Voter Lisa on CNN: I was kind of on the border, but after hearing both candidates tonight, I think that I've kind of swayed over to Bush's side."
The Weekly Standard's Stephen Hayes: "I would say that President Bush won the debate, and for me, it was actually a rather decisive win."
"President Bush defended his decision to invade Iraq, while John Kerry said that Mr. Bush lacked the record to justify re-election."
How about, Kerry defends flipflopping on Iraq, while President Bush said that Kerry lacked the record to be President?
Pick the biased statement.
I know! It's a secret telepathic radio, set to 'Channel Rove'! Yeah, that's the ticket!
'According to rumors racing across the Internet this week, the rectangular bulge visible between Mr. Bush's shoulder blades was a radio receiver, transmitting answers from an offstage counselor into a hidden presidential earpiece. The prime suspect was Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's powerful political adviser.

When the online magazine Salon published an article about the rumors on Friday - the day of the second presidential debate, in St. Louis - the speculation reached such a pitch that White House and campaign officials found themselves inundated with calls.
First they said that pictures showing the bulge might have been doctored. But then, when the bulge turned out to be clearly visible in the television footage of the evening, they offered a different explanation.
"There was nothing under his suit jacket," said Nicolle Devenish, the Bush campaign's communications director.
"It was most likely a rumpling of that portion of his suit jacket, or a wrinkle in the fabric."
Campaign and White House officials said the bulge was definitely not a receiver. '
It's the bullet-proof vest GW has worn since 9/11.
To the RNC LURKERS- Pass on to President Bush this topic; "Did Osama Bin Laden kill the children in the Russian school? I think Mr. Kerry forgets how many people are part of the terror networks and what they want - a return to life in the 14th century."
[fyi, copy of letter emailed to NYTimes last night; they either need to provide evidence, or move on; when i posted this heads up re nytimes.com last night, i had no idea there would actually be other threads about this matter; for some reason nyt bite into this and ain't letting go; otherwise why would they have done what i refer to below?]
Dear NYT Editor,
Do you consider it bias when the front page of the your website offers internet gossip related to the first presidential debate under the story headline about the second debate [9 Oct, nytimes.com, "Mystery of the Bulge"]? I think so.
The prominent hyperlink to your article about an internet bogus story dealing with President Bush supposedly wearing a receiver during the first debate is seriously missplaced, leading readers like myself to question your judgement. Strangely, you offered a hyperlink to your story about this internet gossip under the headline link about the
second debate.
I'm puzzled what this outdated internet gossip from the first debate has anything to do with President Bush's and Senator Kerry's performance in the second debate. Perhaps the NYT found nothing juicy to post about the second debate and mistakenly resorted to posting its story about outdated gossip. Isn't that called bias?
Yours,
