The first report from St. Louis is in - and presidential candidates Michael Badnarik (Libertarian) and David Cobb (Green Party) were just arrested. Badnarik was carrying an Order to Show Cause, which he intended to serve the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). Earlier today, Libertarians attempted to serve these same papers at the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the CPD - but were stopped from approaching the CPD office by security guards.
Fred Collins reported to me from the ground that Badnarik and Cobb are in great physical condition and great spirit.
As soon as more details are available, they will be posted here immediately.
Your constant advocacy of more government intrusion in our lives to buttress your own particular flavor of socialism is sickening...
I think he thinks we should give America back to the Indians.
Depends. The Indians really didn't have a concept of private property. If anything, a libertarian view of it would have had us buying or trading for Indian lands instead of killing them off whole sale. Such probably would have been the out come had the Indians themselves not taken to killing so many of the settlers.
You stand corrected, no for your apology.
Stop the presses! Me-ocrats think that people having the freedom to decide what kind of a society they are to live in is slavery!
That's right! Since the Indians had no concept of private property, only collective territories, they had no right to defend themselves against the invaders.
Hell, why not invite me to the debates? Why not you? For that matter, why don't the 3rd partyites have their own debate?
Yes. When the kind of people like you are choosing to live in a socialist society that makes slaves of the rest of us... At one point in our history, a majority saw nothing wrong with slavery. Are you racist enough to think that if a majority that such was OK again, we should institute it?
You ALWAYS have a Right to defend yourself. Your own flesh is your property. No one elses. Your statement really makes no point at all.
Are you on the ballot as a Presidential Candidate? I know I'm not. Ergo, why should either of us expect to speak at a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES DEBATE?
I don't know if you're referring to the same event, but Keyes did try to forcibly enter a debate here in Atlanta, was hauled off by the police and, when they decided not to charge him, was dropped off on a street corner in one of the less savory parts of town. I've since had an amusing image in my mind of Dr. Keyes forcefully conveying his views to the other denizens of the corner that night.
They both should be tried for stupidity...there's a good case here.
Actually I know someone who is voting Badnaric instead of Kerry.
I'm voting Bush as I promised to do.
Your list reminds me of the game where you start by saying "If I ruled the world, things would be different..."
Libertarianism in a nutshell is an agenda for social change accompanied by absolutely no practical idea of how to achieve it.
Your histrionics and catatonic convulsions notwithstanding, you haven't shown that excluding Mr. Badassick from the debates is a form of racism or slavery, although I will grant you have a point that majoritarianism does not make something right and good.
Just because you get a handful of signatures doesn't mean anyone has to take you seriously. What kind of "debate" is it where a dozen people are on stage bloviating, doing nothing more than trying to get free publicity?
Makes sense for the 9th. A burgler kills a homeowner while in the homeowners house. Delclares self-defense sense the homeowner had his gun drawn and pointed at him.
Head on over to Cato, Reason, or even FreeMarket.net for the gritty details. Yes, we have all kinds of ideas for practical application. Rolling the FedGov back to Constitutional limits is an excellent start.
Or do you have an issue with that as well?
