Republicans that are turning to Kerry illogically over Economy

Posted on 10/06/2004 10:06:51 AM PDT by AMHN

I've heard from Kerry-Republicans recently that they are turning to Kerry over the current forecasted deficits and the state of the economy. The argument: I support small government, and Bush is spending and putting us into debt. Fallacy: 9/11 evaporated an estimated equivalence of 1/12th of the US GNP. The ripple effect throughout the economy can be measured in multiples of that loss; one could even argue that the multiple could easily bridge the gap between the inherited 5 trillion surpluses and the current forecasted 3 trillion deficits. Entire companies were wiped out in a single instant that day. Entire industries needed government subsidies, loans, and grants. Countless jobs were lost as a result of that day. The war on terror began that day. All past wars have caused this country to go into debt. The economy is relative to the events and the rate at which those events occur (or are forced upon us), and when the events are uncommon, the effect on the economy is equally uncommon. The real question these Republicans and all Democrats need to ask themselves is this: “With a Democrat in the White House during 9/11 (specifically Al Gore), would the debts have been any less, the job loss less tragic, the overall economy forecasted to be better?” Somehow the grass always looks greener in the other pasture, but you have to remember, it’s only because the cow manure is so much deeper.

Any member of an organized group that claims to be a Republican for Kerry is probably a liar. Period.

Nothing infuriates me more than republicans who jump ship and vote democrat... In 4 years these same people will decry how awful Kerry has been but they will have themselves to blame.

If that is their stance... then they should be ready to deal out the money out of their pay checks AS SOON AND KERRY STEPS INTO THE WHITEHOUSE.

If you don't STAND for SOMETHING you my fair weather friend will fall for anything.

In fairness to all I work with a man who agrees with GWB on the war, on social issues, but is planing to vote dem because of the deficits and what he perceives as a lack of action on outsourcing and jobs. I have tried to talk some since into him no luck.

There are no Kerry Republicans. Heck, there aren't even any Kerry Democrats.

This election has always been Bush vs Anti-Bush.

That's a fundamental lack of an economics education. That's sad, as the poor seem to "get it" and are moving towards Bush.

Senator Kerry is the biggest empty suit in the Senate.

If anyone says Kerry will solve the problems of the American economy, they are just whistling up a valley.

Besides, the economy's just fine.

Republicans who turn to Mr. Kerry for help will discover a man who adores confiscatory taxes; he and his kind believe they KNOW what's best for the rest of us.

How nice.

My prediction:

5,089,335 Democrats will vote for Bush this year.

37 Republicans will vote for Kerry.

He has a BS in economics, but does not like the high deficits.

These Kerry supporters are Democrats, not Republicans. Maybe its time they take a trip down to the courthouse and change their affiliation. We don't need them.
