I was a Democrate up untill 9-11

Posted on 10/06/2004 7:45:08 AM PDT by cindy68507

Just wanted to introduce myself, I stumbled on this place quite by accident and am quite pleased that I did. I was a Democrat all my life, and voted as such since the time I was 18. I wasnt really into politics, I just voted Democrat all the way down the line because my mom always said "The Democrats are for the poor people, and the Republicans are for the rich, and thats what my mother told me" I voted for Clinton TWICE!! (This is where I am hanging my head) 9-11 was a real wake up call for me. I started getting a real interest in what was going on around me. I stumbled on to Rush Limbaugh on day on my way home, I started questioning exactly what side I was on. I liked and agreed with what Rush had to say. I didnt know what the differances were really. I am so proud to say that I have figured out that I am a Conservative Republican. My mother and I still go round and round now that she see's I have gone over to the other side. I recently also discovered Sean Hannity, whom I just LOVE. I only watch Fox News now because it IS fair and balanced. What a wonderfull time to be alive, I never thought I would see such a political race that has gone the way it has. I am REALLY excited to finally see the "silent" majority waking up finally and speaking their minds and dusting off their boxing gloves. Any way, glad to meet you all and look forward to discussions!

Welcome to sanity and reality! I am a reformed Dem as well. 1980 I voted for Ronald Reagan and haven't voted for a Dem since.

what exactly are you saying? that you don't respect the Republican party? Sounds awfully degrating on a CONSERVATIVE forum - more like something for DU.

IMHO.

Ditto to that. Cynical is good, what with all the trolls we've had in the past few weeks.

This should be interesting to watch. I hope my instincts are wrong this time.

I voted for Clinton TWICE!!

I cancelled your vote TWICE!!

But I have my own shame to bare.

I graduated from the same High School as Clintoon. Paula Jones was part of my graduating class in Hot Springs Arkansas. My sisters still vote Demoncratic because that is how they have always voted.

And don't worry about spelling. You will eventually misspell words just to make a point (Clintoon, Demoncrat) or to get some responses to your post. I love your new word for the Demons, Democrate!

Democrate: The dead that always pop up from their coffin and vote for the Demoncrats during an election.

One thing I hate, is when someone tries to obviously shoot down a newbie who just joined the Republican party.
Which is what you obviously are doing.
What's wrong?
Are you a Dem furious that they left the ranks of people the Dems like ot keep under their thumb, comlpacent and controlled?

I congratulate you. But this is just the beginning if you want grow and mature politically.

A little reading is the next step. Not a lot. Just a few books to set you on the right track.

Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics" is a great book. It is a short but sweet introduction to understanding conservative fiscal thinking. His "The Vision of the Anointed" is a good summery of the many ways that the opposite path of liberalism has failed society.

And then for some funny light reading try P, J. O'Rourke. "Eat The Rich", "Parliament of Whores", or "Give War a Chance" are all good choices.

Just pick one of the books outlined above and give it a shot! You have nothing to lose and you'll probably feel more secure in your new views.

"Why do we look to the people who have the problems for the solutions? "

Democraps are the ones who CREATE problems, and then swoop in with the "solution".

1) Shyster lawyers like John Edwards, helping to bankrupt the health care system....then calls the number of uninsured (as a result of his actions) 'a crisis'. The solution? Socialized Health Care

2) Bringing forth legislation to punish corporations, causing them to move overseas (and taking jobs with them). John Kerry blaming the Repubs for sending jobs overseas, and then telling us he 'has a plan to create new jobs'.

3) Allowing numerous terrorist attacks on our soil (WTC 93), and covering up others like TWA Flight 800 and OKC '96. Clinton passes on Osama 3x. 9-11 occurs, Democrats try to blame Bush.

Personally, I kind of LIKE "democrate".

WE'll have to figure out exactly what gets kept in one, and I REALLY hope it's marked "Hazerdous Materials".
