The conventional wisdom is that the president stays above attacks, and the VP handles that aspect of a campaign. President Bush clearly holds the office in great regard, and doesn't wish to be seen as an attack dog. That is what Cheney does so well. He does it like a gentleman, but he gets the job done.

Ive been saying that Bush actually won the debate and Kerry gave the RNC the ammo to take him out. Think of it this way....Bush /Cheney is steak and potatoes...good basic food, Kerry Edwards is pate, cavier, brie and champagne. After a full meal of Kerry /Edwards, indigestion is setting in for the American undecideds. Its all downhill for Kerry / Edwards.
