I don't know, but I'll do the best I can from home. Murtha is saying we need more troops, and is comparing the current situation to the draft in 1940. I think he's (relatively) sincere, but we just don't need millions under arms in Iraq.

So, they just play with legislation, is that it? If they vote it down, they should have their salary yanked for colluding to bring down a sitting President with false legislation.

The Dems are the ones who are guilty of playing. They introduced the legislation to start up the draft to embarrass the president. It was stupid of them, but understandable when you consider the source.

Good for the Repubs bringing this to the floor for a vote....all the rats are fleeing the draft boat..

Yes. Let 'em (the Dims) put their votes where their mouths have been.

Murtha is a D, but he's an old-school pro-defense D. I don't agree with his position on the draft, but he's an honest man who is a real supporter of the armed forces. He's from Pennsylvania.

All of that is true, but on THIS issue, he has been carrying Kerry's water....bigtime.

Murtha is strongly advocating that we are in a war, and we all need to be involved with it. He doesn't think the Administration is asking for enough troops, and wants more troops. He believes everyone should serve in the military. He'll vote yes, and he doesn't like the fact that this bill is a political issue and is not being discussed seriously.

Shiela Jackson Lee was one of the co-signers to the legislation. SHE wants the draft, not the Republicans with some sort of "secret" plan to use HER legislation.
