Yes, he is running his crony's mafia princess daughter up against Steve LaTourette for Congress. Gee, what a punishment. And the candidate, in her early 20s, is spending her own private stash in the hundreds of thousands to take him out.
Her daddy was indicted, but never found guilty, I believe, but the district includes the new gerrymandered out Traficant area.
Slicky boy won't be in prison much longer if she wins.

Wouldn't it be great if some protester got access to those documents and did the same thing? I wonder how fast he would be in the slammer. Maybe some FReephadist would be willing to make the sacrifice to see what would happen to them.

Hey, I just coined a new word - for posterity - I'll take credit for Freephadist - in any event - whoever it is could take comfort in knowing their cause would not be covered up - and it would get plenty of exposure ;-)

I read that too. I wish it did not have to be this way, but I suspect that they have decided that any prosecution will appear too political if it goes forward this close to the election. It's sad that we are not even allowed to pursue justice in a criminal act if it has a political connection and if this drags out too long, we all know it's possible that Berger will never be held accountable.

"Why do you think he never pursued any of Clinton's crimes? You know - the ones that Janet Reno said that she couldn't comment on because they were "under investigation?"

I'm not the Attorney General of the United States, so I wouldn't expect you to trust me. Maybe you would like to answer the question."

I would be happy to answer the question. I do not know what the reason for a lack of prosecution was/is. I do not know (and doubt) if Janet Reno's "investigation" was occurring as she claimed.

What I do know is that prosecutors frequently make decisions on prosecution based on a probability to convict. I would think the probability here is very low. You might say that there is a ton of evidence to convict with...to which I would ask you where OJ Simpson served his prison sentence?

In addition there are inevitable political aspects to the position of AG. I agree that maybe it should not be that way but obviously it is. Do you want to everything the Presidents administration is trying to accomplish being buried in the news by what the media will term a "witch hunt"?

Now I know your argument here is "who cares what the liberal media thinks?"...or words to that effect. The media is still the primary source of information for most people. We are struggling right now to reelect the President. If we were fighting to convict Bill Clinton of everything most of us know he is guilty of we might as well just get ready to hand the United States over to John Kerry, who would promptly pardon The Liar anyway.

Last of all I know of nobody in government I have more faith in than John Ashcroft. I trust his judgment 100%.

Did this answer your question?

Funny! I suggest one improvement. Replace the suit outfit with one of Trafficant's cheesey sport jackets and out-of-style ties (y,know the wide ones with the crazy prints).

Good answer - I'll accept that - but I still don't have to like it. I think the lack of prosecution emboldens others in positions of power to commit crimes and not be held unaccoutable.

Lack of accountability breeds corruption.

Is Berger in Jail Yet?

If not why not?

The two party cartel does not want to do anything that would embarass the country

I don't think that the cartel cares one iota about what we think because they own the Congrees & if one pol is sacrificed another will be formed within a few years in that position. Complain to your congresscritter & find out after the initial small talk when your issue is presented & NO action they will just tell you to go vote for the other person. They know they have a lock. We re-elect a greater % than the old Soviet Union did. Go figure.

Does anyone have an update - or can think of any other crimes Ashcroft is not - but should be pursing? Comments?

Since you asked, you claim to not know, but then falsely assume "Ashcroft" is not pursuing the Berger matter.

My comment is you were wrong in your assumption and I'd like the case to be ironclad and not just directed at Berger. You know, the people he was purloining the documents for and those he shared them with.

Next time save your complaints for when you know you've got something to complain about.

The guy stole documents and destroyed them - how much investigating do you have to do? It will be just like Reno - We can't comment on that - it's under investigation - until his term is over and everyone has forgotten.

There is something else there that they don't want the public to know and we won't find out - Just like all of Clinton's crimes - or are you saying that Reno did her job too? Clinton committed crimes that Ashcroft should have prosecuted - too many to mention here.

Did you know that Mueller (current head of the FBI) defended the FBI against the charges from Ruby Ridge and Waco? Do you believe the government was honest about their involvement there? His reward was being promoted to head up the FBI. The government protects their own for their reasons - which I believe is to protect the integrity of the country.

Ultimately - those in the government who commit the crimes realize that they won't be held accountable - and that breeds more corruption. There is so much that goes on that we will never know about.
