Possible good news
CNBC | 10-05-2004 | chuckles

Posted on 10/05/2004 11:00:45 AM PDT by chuckles

Just heard on CNBC that Friday's jobs number could be big. The gubmint will revise upward the whole years numbers and the est. is around 288k. The excuse is the economy is growing so they didn't know to ask about the new business's hiring and are just now finding out about it.

Friday night, Bush could have some ammo in an economic debate. The revised numbers plus the Sept numbers could cut the job deficit in half.

There is no "job deficit". There are more people employed today (many millions) than when Bush took office.

last month it was rumored to be bad and it turned out to be decent. This month it is rumored to be decent. So either it will be really good or less than expected. (Rumors are never right.)

I sure hope Bush grows a clue and finds a way to reference the household survey as further proof the economy is growing and as a testimony to the entreprenurial spirit of America.

You are right about the good employment news. You undershoot how good the news will be. October is the month each year when the government makes the final corrections for all months of the year in the employment figures.

Based on provisional corrections already made and the current state of the economy, here are the results to respect: 1) An unemployment rate of 3.4% or lower. (It was 5.6% when Clinton was reelected based on the "strong" economy.) 2) More people will be employed in America than ever before in our history. 3) More people will be employed than on 20 January, 2001, when President Bush took office at the beginning of the shallow Clinton recession.

In short, the official news on employment will pound a wooden stake into the heart of the Kerry lie that "Bush is worse than Hoover." Mark my words, and call me a liar if I miss on any of these three points.

John Kerry says he can do a better job than President Bush. Oh really?

What is Kerry’s record over his 20 years in the Senate?

• Kerry voted against most of the major weapons systems that our troops use today.
• Kerry voted against the $87 billion for support of the troops, after he voted for it.
• Kerry led the fight against President Bush's Department Of Homeland Security, voting against it six times and delaying it for 112 days.
• Kerry missed more than 75% of the meetings of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
• Kerry proposed slashing the intelligence budget by $7.5 billion after the first attack on the World Trade Center.
• Kerry has voted at least 350 times for higher taxes.
• Kerry has been able to persuade congress to pass only eight insignificant laws that bear his name, and most of those were strictly ceremonial.

Kerry can do a better job than President Bush? Oh really?

That explains the sudden reporting on PLANNED job cuts.

Anyone else ever hear such a category before?

>>>There is no "job deficit". There are more people employed today (many millions) than when Bush took office.

As of the August data there were 1.89 million more employed than in January 2001.
However, there were also 2.03 million more unemployed than in January 2001.

Expect Dems to state the jobs being created pay a fraction of what jobs lost were paying...
