An unknown suspect fired several shots into the Bearden office of the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign Tuesday morning.
The headquarters are located at 4618 Kingston Pike, next to Noveau Classics and in the same shopping plaza as Long's Drugstore.
According to Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officers on the scene Tuesday, it is believed that the two separate shots were fired from a car sometime between 6:30 am and 7:15 am.
One shot shattered the glass in the front door and the other cracked the glass in another of the front doors.
There were no witnesses to the shooting. A customer at a nearby dry cleaning store noticed shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of the headquarters and called police.
Volunteers and staffers at the campaign office say they have no clues as to who might have committed the crime. However, they add that the shooting makes them even more enthusiastic and energized about working for their candidates.
"If I have to sleep here (at the campaign office) now, that's what I'll do," says volunteer Suzanne Dewar.
In an unexpected twist, a bank directly across the street from the headquarters was robbed just as KPD officers were busy investigating at the scene of the shooting.
If you take away guns, only Democrats will have them.
All I have to say is "Get some", Dems.
this is gonna be a funnnnnnn election!
If the left pulls any stunts after we win then I say bring it on! Right wing gun nuts versus drugged up peacenik liberal weenies - it'll be no contest. Now, on the other hand, if they respond to a Bush win by trying to get the People's Republic of Massachusetts to secede I will be the first to say good riddance. Let them go form their own little socialist utopia, or perhaps they can join up with Canada and I will not lament for a moment.
And for the few conservatives left living in that state, I will extend a hand of welcome as they relocate to the good parts of the nation.
That was in Gettysburg, a few miles west of me, in York...

Better yet a letter to the editor in your local paper. Ive become quite an agitation to liberals in our local "voice of the people"
"I think a lot of Democrats (Lieberman, Zell Miller, etc) are silently appalled at the campaign that Kerry is running. If Kerry looses it could mean the end of the Democratic Party as we know it to the benefit of the Republican Party."
Actually, in the long run it would benefit the Democratic Party as well. The dims party as we all know it to be right now NEEDS to end. Some things should die so something new and better can emerge. I long for a Democratic Party where the Millers and Liebermans are the majority. Maybe then we can restore some sanity to this whole process.
This will go unreported by the MSM. Can you imagine if a Dem HQ was fired at? It most certainly WOULD be headline news nationwide and Republican leaders would be called onto the carpet to denounce it. Their silence truly says a lot about them. Scary stuff.

Gore fans team up with Clinton and Kerry fans for some peacful socialist action.
It will not be surprising to see this escalate from property vandalism to more vicious physical assaults and even assassinations or murder.
This might sound a bit trite but "Keep Your Powder Dry" and your weapons ready for they are such wicked people.
Am I the only kook that senses another civil war in the US?
In my haste I was thinking about Nashville. I stand corrected.
Am I the only kook that senses another civil war in the US?
I doubt another civil war, but I think the extreme left will turn violent. Then we'll see just how many of them and their supporters there really are.

Norman Lawmaker Upset Over Sign Burning
KOCO Channel 5 in Oklahoma City
NORMAN, Okla. -- A local candidate for the state House of Representatives was looking for answers Wednesday after someone set one of his campaign signs on fire.
Rep. Thad Balkman, R-Norman, is running as an incumbent for the District 45 House seat. Balkman said one of his campaign signs was found burned at some point Tuesday morning.
Balkman told Eyewitness News 5's Tim Sakahara that he doesn't know who would torch his sign. However, the lawmaker said he has no doubt that the vandalism is politically motivated.
The Norman attorney said the vandalism might be related to the fact that he supports a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage in Oklahoma. He said he has received hate mail and threats over the ballot proposal.
"I certainly do have a fear as a father and a husband," he said. "I would hope these acts of aggression don't go beyond what happened here."
Balkman's opponent in the race, Democrat Estelle Cash, said she has no idea who burned the sign. Cash said she does not condone damage to Balkman's property.
