Fight Back Against The Democrat "Draft" Email Scare Tactic -- Take Action Here

Posted on 10/05/2004 8:38:59 AM PDT by jmstein7

As many of you know, there are shameful "scare" emails circulating around the internet aimed at scaring parents and kids with the "D" word -- Draft.

We can fight back!

First, send the email I have prepared below to everyone you know.

Second, if you receive one of the scare emails, send the email below to EVERY email address listed in the email you receive.

Email reads as follows:

Pass this important information to all you know...

Kerry, in a fit of desperation, is making an effort to scare Draft age voters.  Kerry's campaign trail comments on the draft are coordinated with (1) the introduction of HR 163 by cynical Democrats like Charles Rangel, and (2) the sending of an email by Democrats to draft age men and women, especially those in the college system.

The truth is, Democrats are trying to bring back the draft.

Here is the proof...

House of Representatives Bill H.R. 163 "Reinstate the Draft" is sponsored and written by Charlie Rangel (a New York Democrat) and co-sponsored by 14 Democrats (and ZERO Republicans).

The Senate version is S. 89, sponsored and written by Fritz Hollings, another Democrat.

These Democrats are very powerful and influential, and Kerry, if he won, may be forced by his party to sign on and, effectively, bring back the draft.

President Bush would veto it (if it passed), and no Republicans support these bills.  The draft bills are 100% Democrat.

Don't be fooled by Kerry -- he lies with reckless abandon, and he will say ANYTHING if he thinks it can help him win.

Here is the original news story on the draft bills:

Washington, DC-- Democrat Congressman Jim McDermott has announced his co-sponsorship of Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel's legislation to reinstate the military draft and other forms of national service. The bill would require Americans between 18 and 26 to serve two years in the military or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security.

The bill, HR 163, is intended to ensure that the burden of military service is not borne disproportionately by the poor and numbers of minority groups.

Congressman McDermott, a Democrat, commented that "I believe that if those who are pushing for war knew that their children might be required to share the burden of that war, there might be a greater willingness to work toward peace and a diplomatic solution. If, despite our best efforts, we end up in armed conflict, then fairness dictates that the sons and daughters of all classes participate."

" I am pleased to be an original co-sponsor of Congressman Rangel's bill, McDermott continued. " If we need to re-instate the draft in order to make the Administration consider the chilling consequences of war, so be it. I hope this will make them realize how important a diplomatic solution really is. "

In underscoring the need for broad public discussion about committing troops to conflict, the Democrat reiterated his view that it is time to consider a period of compulsory service for every young person in our country. "The draft ended thirty years ago, and since then the sense of obligation as the price of citizenship has faded," he said. I agree with Congressman Rangel that we need to find ways to share the sacrifices associated with committing our country to war, whether it's a campaign against illiteracy, poverty, hunger, or terrorism."

Democrat McDermott served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps at the Long Beach Naval Station in California from 1968 to 1970. Congressman Rangel served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1948 to 1952.

I recommends that you fight this latest Dem scare tactic by letting everyone you know that this represents the latest round in the MediScare, Social Security Scare tactics by the Dems.

End of email

Or, we could publicize the Draft Bill that has actually made it to the House Floor and is scheduled for a vote later tonight - it's expected to be defeated handily...

House expected to reject draft proposal
Washington, DC, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- The House of Representatives is expected to reject Tuesday a bill to reinstate the military draft.
The bill is sponsored by Rep. Charles Rangel, a New York Democrat, who introduced the legislation in an attempt to force Americans to consider the human cost of the war in Iraq. A majority of the enlisted recruits come from the lowest economic classes, a fact Rangel believes makes it easy for the middle and upper classes to support war, because it is not their children at risk.

The bill, H.R. 163, is expected to be defeated soundly. It would require every U.S. citizen and every other person residing in the country between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a two-year period of national service, either as a member of the reserves or in a civilian capacity that promotes national defense.

Sen. Ernest Hollings, D-S.C., has introduced identical legislation. The Pentagon firmly opposes reinstating the draft.

It would be great if you could get a hold of the DNC's email list. They're the people who need to read this. I'm not suggesting we break any laws, but is there away to do that?

Just send it to your email lists and tell the people you send it to to send it to their lists. It will make the "rounds" that way.

A variation of this story appeared as a letter to the editor in our paper today, providing a link to thomas.gov to attribute the claims made.

I wrote to the editor, explaining that if the author had clicked on his own link he would have discovered that all sponsors are Democrats. But, stupid is as stupid does. We'll see if the reply gets printed.

Democrats certainly know their constituents, don't they? They're the same people that believe there is a pervasive ring of kidney thieves, that black voting rights will expire, and that Enfamil is issuing $400 refunds, that Microsoft (or Disney) will pay you $5000 to test an email tracking program.

The Dems may be on to their greatest marketing genius ever.

Jonathan,

Can you check to see whether it's true (per another thread on FR), that Hastert is going to bring the Rangel bill to the floor for a vote today? If so, this whole Internet scam will be dead, Dead, DEAD.

This has been a live topic in my circle of friends and family since June. Even when I shoot down their attempts to scare people by showing them the truth, this thing keeps cropping up. I did a google search and people are tripping all over each other in perpetrating this hoax!

Thanks for the ping.

I just "shotgun-emailed" this to about a hundred people.
