Tancredo Stunned by White House Maneuver to Exclude Key Immigration Component of Intelligence Bill

Tancredo said - "These proposals may have prevented 9/11 from ever happening, it just doesn’t make sense..."

From the Office of Congressman Tom Tancredo FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 4, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (CO-06) was shocked to learn of the White House’s demand of House Republicans to exclude portions of the House Intelligence Bill which would prevent those who are in the United States illegally from obtaining drivers licenses, speed up the deportation process, and bar the use of the Matricula Consular card, which the FBI has already testified before Congress as being too susceptible to fraud for official use.

“This last minute switch by the White House now puts in jeopardy the most significant border security enhancements we’ve seen in years,” said Tancredo, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus. “I sincerely hope that the White House is not seriously thinking about walking away from this effort in the interest of political expediency in a few states.”

This is but one reason why I want Tancredo in 2008. I'm tired of watching politicians reward illegal aliens for their lawbreaking.

Your source and link are not to Tancredo's Congressional Website as you claim, but rather to the site of an organization chaired by Pat Buchanan's sister. The webmaster is Pat Buchanan's webmaster. Why the deception?

This is Bush's biggest and most glaring weakness.

I hope that this is political season hay and not a stance that he is actually taking. Interestingly though, this is something Kerry could legitimately hammer Bush on, but not in a million years would Kerry do it.

This is a symptom of what Washington's purpose has become. It is about personal politics, not what is good and necessary to support and preserve America. A government for and by Washington, NOT FOR AND BY THE PEOPLE.

A sorry state of affairs. Buying votes with OUR TAX DOLLARS to feed and support ILLEGAL ALIENS IS TWISTED, SICK AND TOTALLY UNFAIR TO THE PEOPLE THAT GAVE THE POLITICIANS OUR TRUST. That was a mistake as we are now witnessing.

Go watch this link and then tell me you are so mad at President Bush you are voting for Kerry or not voting. What in the ___ do you think Kerry would do.

I am sick and tired of all these threads on immigration and trying to turn people against President Bush. Stop and think what you are doing on this forum by trying to turn people against Bush -- what do you want a John Kerry President. After watching that link I am in no mood for any of this crap!

Think on here for a change -- you have heresay including Tancredo who will NEVER be elected President with his one issue -- doesn't work that way.

Bush needs the Hispanic vote. It looks like a good bill but it is just plain dumb to be trying to push it through right before an election. Tancredo should know better and not be playing silly games. Bush needs to make this a non-issue or he could get hammered on it by the Democrats.

Apparently this loose cannon does not shrink from undermining our Commander-in-Chief at this critical juncture in our history. Tancredo appears to be a complete ass.

What you say is true, yet I am nonetheless disgusted that the Republican party has to stoop to the level of Democrats and pander to idiots who pull out the Race Card every time we round up illegal invaders.

#3, it doesn't matter. This needs to come out. It's more important than any election.

Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No. Neither party has the guts to stop illegal immigration and defend our borders. The fear of loosing votes is too great to do the proper thing. On the upside, in a generation or two we will all be bilingual.

Perhaps it's the Commander-in-Chief that's undermining our Constitution.

When a Mexican flys a jet into a skyscraper, I'll support this. I have no argument with this system POSSIBLY stopping the 911 attacks, it might have. But as I've said all along, we should be welcoming anyone who wants to come into this country and WORK, in an attempt to better their lives. We have too many LEGAL Americans who could take a strong lesson in the work ethic from Mexicans.

Both parties have abandoned us on this issue save a few repubs. If we do get a viable third party it will be because of the immigration issue.
This makes me not want to vote for GWB, then common sense takes over and I realize even though he is opening our borders and flooding our country with illegals he is a better choice than Kerry and a vote for a pro-immigration reform third party would be throwing my vote away.
From what I know of the Libertatians they advocate open borders and are more liberal on this issue than Bush.
The best solution is to throw out the RINOs at the grass roots level and make it well known that the reason they are out is their open borders policies. Maybe after a few examples the remaining RINOs will start protecting our borders.
AARRGG!!!
