BREAKING NEWS: FOX News: "99% Sure It's a Black Pen"
INDC Journal ^ | 10/04/2004 | INDC Journal

Posted on 10/04/2004 11:15:01 AM PDT by TomEwall

A FOX News representative has reviewed several versions of the debate tape and is almost positive that the object in question is a black pen.

"What he takes out of his pocket ... I'm almost 99% sure that it's a pen. It's a black, oblong object," a FOX News producer told INDC Journal.

Let's leave it at that. The debate rules were violated in letter, but not intent, and any charges of cheating against the Kerry campaign are undeserved and inaccurate. If the tape had clearly shown that John Kerry had removed a pen from his pocket, I would not have bothered to run the post, and any further speculation about the capabilities of "electronic pens" or oblong devices are strictly conspiratorial, partisan nonsense. I do honestly hope that this incident reinforces the importance of following the letter of the debate's Memorandum of Understanding, but I offer my sincere apologies to the Kerry Campaign for running the item and causing any undue negative speculation before obtaining adequate verification from FOX News.

Too bad. I was hoping for index cards.

Oh well, back to "global test", "nuclear fuel for Iran" and "bilateral talks with North Korea."

So even tho the pics I saw were the top half of a rigid index card shape...it was a black pen? Were the photos doctored? I mean...there is no way a black pen looks like a stiff sheet of index card paper.

Black pen?
Why does it look white?

No one is touching this at all.

From what I saw I'm not convinced it was a pen. I heard the three on Fox and Friends claim it was a pen this morning but they showed no footage while I was watching. I'll wait to see some enhanced pictures or footage before I'm convinced.

Then why was Kerry clearly writing with a WHITE OR SILVER pen throughout the entire debate?

Who takes a pen out for the heck of it, sets it on the podium, then goes about using another pen that is already there!

Couldn't Kerry have taken more than one thing out of his pockets? I haven't seen the tape in slo-mo, but maybe he took out some index cards and then took out a black pen, and now is using the black pen as a red herring.

Is there any footage of Kerry putting the object back into his pocket after the debate?

Note to Fox: GIVE US THE HI-DEF FOOTAGE!

If you think it was a pen, prove it.

Can we get on with the campaign now? I mean, if we can't even get the MSM to investigate the source of the naked fraud committed by Dan Rather and the Kerry campaign, who the hell is going to care if he cheats? People expect it nowadays. The shock is not there, sorry to say.

I wish FOX would use their time to verify the CNS documents on Saddam's WMD, instead. That's the whole ballgame right there if those can be proven authentic.

I agree. Let's see the tapes.

To me, it looks like he was carrying a black pen in his right hand BEFORE he ever pulled out anything from his jacket. Then, he pulled out something white & rectangular from his jacket with his left hand (and the black pen is in his right).

And let's not forget "no bunker-busting nukes" to intimidate that sweetheart, Kim Jong-il.

[ any charges of cheating against the Kerry campaign are undeserved and inaccurate ]

Who is this easily duped coward? You think Fox news would tank Kerry completely? Mucho pressure.

BTW, where's the independent film analysts on the web, like those who analyzed the font?

Would this have been played down as much if it looked as if BUSH had a cheat sheet ? I don't think so - I have enough faith in the MSM that they would have cut BUSH as much slack. Hold on, is that a monkey flying out of my butt ?

I am not sure what the big deal is anyways. Does anyone really think voters will care if Kerry had some notes written down.

They are looking at the very beginning of the debate! The note cards come into play a few minutes after that.

He's getting what he deserves, pulling anything at all out of his pocket, with his back turned to the audience. His reward will be that everyone will be watching at the next debate.

Even if it had been index cards, it wouldn't have mattered, imo. Kerry's answers were bad no matter what notes he had. That's not how he won. He won because Bush did a terrible job at the debate. But that's OK, because ppl have no choice but to vote for him. Kerry is unacceptable. His post debate #s on Iraq, terrorism, and leadership are just as bad as before the debate.
