The White House has told House Republicans that it wants them to remove provisions in their intelligence-overhaul bill that would crack down on illegal aliens' obtaining drivers' licenses, allow easier deportation and limit the use of foreign consular ID cards. The Senate's bill lacks those provisions, and as the two chambers race toward trying to pass a bill before the Nov. 2 election, the measures are a potential stumbling block. The White House wants those provisions out, according to a congressional source familiar with the bill. "They have expressed desire to kill some of the immigration provisions and gut some of others," the source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Rosemary Jenks, a lobbyist for stricter immigration controls for the group NumbersUSA , who has been tracking the bill, said White House policy officials met with Republican staffers to urge them to remove the provisions, even though White House officials initially had signed off on those same provisions before the bill was introduced officially. "The White House was involved in the negotiations before the bill was introduced, and now, for some reason, it has come back and decided to insist that the main provisions, the most effective provisions of the bill, be gutted," she said. She said House Republican leaders appear to be standing firm in refusing the White House demands. A White House spokesman did not return a call for comment yesterday. ***
"This goes to the very heart of the entire conspiracy of 9/11," he said. "These people entered the country, got driver's licenses, used those driver's licenses to obtain the services they needed, and then used those driver's licenses to get on the plane."

This is the man that is the "security " candidate?
He has just lost that campaign point .
Now that fact is Kerry would probably do no different , but the strongest point of Bush was his "security " platform ..
We are in a race to one world government , both parties want to be in the drivers seat for it. Then when the crash happens they will both claim clean hands.
That is why neither party deserves or gets any vote from me. I will leave it to others to give our country away
The House had better stick to its guns on this!
At this point I would be happy to vote for Pat Buchanan!
Rush is busily yelling about the great virtuses of out-sourcing, and Bush is taking care of the illegals!
And these are the very same people who donate money to Bush in order to see their desires fulfilled.
That's why Bush signed the Totalization Agreement with Mexico to give millions of former, current and future Mexican illegal aliens access to our Social Security system.
And because the democrats love illegals more than does Bush, they're not going to say a word about Bush's Social Security give-away.
So, the bottom line is that Bush, the republican and the democrats are in cahoots to give our tax dollars to Mexican illegal aliens.
Really? Yeesh. Well, thank you for *that* at least, Mr. Byrd.
hahaha McCain? you need to read up on Prop 200 in Arizona. McCain is fiercely apposing it. There is a huge "open borders" crowd within the Republican party. Do some research on who they are.
post for spelling check....oops

You may be right because the sources aren't named so we don't know for sure. But if this is true it could be a big problem for Bush because Kerry could flipflop at anytime and say he wants all of the committee recomendations and make it an issue in a debate.
There is some good news though about Arab illegal immigrants that I just posted over here
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1234891/posts
I also remember reading that Jeb Bush supported drivers licenses for illegals.
PS Whoever said BUSH's strong point was "Security" and with the Mexican border wide open, he just blew that one IS RIGHT. Screw it, I sit out the election. I can't vote DEM without throwing up and the local Republicans just raise my taxes. Adios BUSH
Is Bush determined to lose the election? Or is he just plain crazy?
I've had this on my mind a lot. Most people are unaware nearly 30% of federal prison inmates, and over 40% of California prison inmates are foreign citizens. The majority are from Mexico. What I'm about to write is not aimed at Mexicans. It's intended for illegal immigrants that commit crimes within our borders.
I hope I can write this in a manner that makes some sense.
Having possession of a gun carries much responsibility. As such, states like my own, California, have passed tough laws such as 10-20-life. It basically states that using a gun in the commission of a crime carries a minimum 10 year sentence. If the gun is fired during that crime it is a mandatory 20 sentence. Shoot someone and it's automatically a life sentence. Murder during the commission of a crime can still result in the death penalty. That hasn't changed.
Now it seems to me everyone within our borders carries much responsibility to behave, be they here legally or illegally. It seems it would be fitting to have a state and/or federal special circumstance law similar to the 10-20-life law for illegal immigrants that come to our country to conduct further illegal activities. Not only would it be fitting, but it would be very beneficial to make such a law well publicized in Mexican newspapers and media, and do the same here.
Have I made any sense?
Bump to all that!!
Do you have any idea how many times we're heard stuff like this from "unnamed sources?"
Members of the National Commission for Terrorist attacks upon the United States held a press conference last week to complain about some of the House provisions and praise the Senate bill as it now stands. Commission Vice Chairman Lee H. Hamilton singled out some of the House immigration provisions as particularly problematic for commission members.end snip
I don't understand it either. I thought BM was gone, and was glad to see it. Apparently the suspension was very temporary. It's one thing to be a complete Republican thrall, it is another entirely to show up on thread after thread threatening, name calling, and disrupting.
Regarding the topic at hand, I am not entirely surprised. For all the reasons to love the way Bush has handled the WOT, there are things like this that just cannot be reconciled. All the while we have been in Afganistan and Iraq, our borders have been a sieve ... if we don't get hit again from someone crossing the borders illegally and taking advantage of the lax security, phony document market-place to support illegals, etc., then it will be a miracle. But even if that miracle comes to pass, we still have to pay for the millions that have slipped across.
