Definitely looks like a cover on something. He clearly opens it up. Could be a notebook, could be a PDA.

He takes something out of his jacket like several 3x5s. Then he picks up a paper from the lectern and makes like he's getting ready to take notes. He appears to place it on top of the item(s) he removed from jacket.
Even basic PDAs have an infrared wireless capability that requires no other signal. More advanced ones of course have cell phone technology. If he was gettting notes I'd bet on the infrared basic transfer. Kids have been using these to pass test info for a couple of years.

I never used crib sheets until I got into the court room. Hopefully, somebody will ask Kerry about what he pulled out of his pocket. He will probably lie. Sad. Kerry didn't need crib sheets to win this debate, just like Nixon didn't need Watergate to beat McGovern.

Cheaters cheat, and liars lie.
THAT is the sum of sKerry's "moral" code.
But, hey...with billyblythe, we also got, "murderers murder."

Maybe a handkerchief? Who knows. Who cares?
Regardless of what it is, it doesn't excuse the fact that Bush didn't go after him like a rabid dog. For heavens sake, Kerry's assertions are so baseless, his "plans" so retarded, his arrogance so palpable, and his treachery so undeniable, that Bush should have cleaned his clock. Playing "Mr. Nice Guy" with the Kerrorist was the wrong tactic. Thank God there's a still a month left to try and fix this mistake.
Kerry is so obviously the WRONG choice for president. It makes me mad to think this guy may actually be president in a month's time. I love Bush, but if he loses this election we're going to have to make sure that the next candidate can articulate his views well. Unfortunately the unwashed masses don't seem to be interested in substance, at a time when substance is most important. Grrrr....

Drudge just said that NYT mentions this story in an article that will be on their front page tom am- although it sounds like it will only be a mention, not the focus. Deny, ignore, minimize, mislead, and occasionally forgerize: the motto of the MSM today!
To: Bushruffneck
There's no proof it was anything. These guys cheat. He cheated to get out of fulfilling his committment in Vietnam and he cheated to get into public office. And he has been able to escape any punishment for those crimes, so in his mind, what's one more lie. He'll pay. One day. He will pay.

Whatever it is, it looks like a semi-automated movement... e.g., like you have to push only a bit on the Sidekick and the rest of the cover flips off by itself.

When the question is given, his staff could send him a prepared argument which can open in the Palm Pilot! Absolutely incredible.
I cannot wait to see what Rush does with this on Monday morning!!!!!!!

you can clearly see they're index cards and he even shuffles them after he places them on the lectern.
Kerry is a CHEATER!

And I think it's refreshing to see a "non-techie" for a change :)

I don't want to throw cold water on the cheat sheet theory, but it is possible that he may have done nothing more than take a hankerchief from his pocket and unfolded it to wipe his sweaty fingers. (I know, ewww.)It is very difficult to tell.
If he is guilty, may it come back to bite him-big time!

Some guy called into Lib Brian Whitman on WABC saying that FoxNews has such an overhead shot of the debate and are talking to legal before they decide what to do with it. Of course this caller was saying that Kerry had an earpiece and was geting verbal cues from afar. That sounds a little too James Bond and Whitman went nuts on the guy, but if anyone out there has a Fox contact maybe they could find out what the story is about Fox's camera angles.

Um, this is national TV. Would you risk your whole career on saying, "This isn't my fair! My opponent's cheating!" on national TV if you saw it for only a split-second and you can't clearly see that he's cheating?
I think Bush did see it. I noted on Thursday that Bush seemed to be p---ed off and angry from the beginning, after the handshakes. I thought it was Kerry's opening speech that did it but now I think that it may have been this.
