JOHN KERRY AND THE DEBATES: TOP TEN LIST OF THE SENATOR'S CURIOUS STATEMENTS
10. Osama bin Laden uses the invasion of Iraq in order to go out to people and say that America has declared war on Islam. -Reminiscent of Christmas in Cambodia, has Lieutenant Jg Kerry gone behind enemy lines again? Kerry knows more about bin Ladens daily routine than top U.S. military personnel, many of whom believe bin Laden may be dead.
9. Recommendations for coalition-building, sit down with those world leaders, say What do you need, what do you need now, how much more will it take to get you to join us? -And Kerry thinks Bush has a coalition of the coerced and the bribed?.
8. Nuclear proliferation. Nuclear proliferation right now this president is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to research bunker-busting nuclear weapons. Not this President. Im going to shut that program down. -'PRESIDENT KERRY', where do you think rogue nations are doing their nuclear development? Yes, the answer is In a bunker. Note: Ronald Reagan never had to use any of his added nuclear armament to bring down the Soviet Union.
7. On Bushs lack of support for homeland security: Thats why they had to close down the subway in New York when the republican convention was (t)here. Not one station was ever closed during the week of the convention, not even under Madison Square Garden during Bushs speech. Wasnt Kerry in St. Louis, preparing for his electrifying midnight rally?
6. We got weapons of mass destruction crossing the (Iraq) border every single day. The whole might of the U.S. military has been unable to locate the WMDs, but Kerrys got his eye on them
5. On his vote against the $87 billion funding for armament in Iraq: When I came back from that (Vietnam) war, I saw that it was wrong (Kerry likes that word). Some people dont like the fact that I stood up to say no, but I did. And thats what I did with that ($87 B) vote. And Im going to lead those troops to victory. -Huh?
4. We didnt need that tax cut. America needed to be safe. -Everyone knows that you cant have equitable, job-creating tax policy AND not be blown up by a suitcase bomb.
3. I've met kids in Ohio, parents in Wisconsin places, Iowa, where they're going out on the Internet to get the state-of-the-art body gear to send to their kids. Some of them got them for a birthday present. We all know that Kerry voted against the Body armor in the $87 B vote (see #5) which makes this statement ridiculous - but did you notice that the only place people are concerned is in Battleground states?
2. On Bushs lack of international credibility: I mean, we can remember when President Kennedy in the Cuban missile crisis sent his secretary of state to Paris to meet with DeGaulle. And in the middle of the discussion, to tell them about the missiles in Cuba, he said, "Here, let me show you the photos." And DeGaulle waved them off and said, "No, no, no, no. The word of the president of the United States is good enough for me. -Is it possible, Jean-Francois Kerry, that its not Americas presidents that have changed, but perhaps France itself?
1. The United Nations, Kofi Anan offered help after Baghdad fell. And we never picked him up on that - Note: AFTER Baghdad fell
All quotes of John Kerry were furnished by the cspan.org transcipt of the first presidential debate of 2004, Miami, Florida.

Personally, I liked "....but we'll talk about that later." from someone who supposedly didn't know the questions he was to be asked.
i had no idea that the KGB headquarters was under a Polish death camp. Tirblablanka is not in Russia !
Poor John Kerry, he was born with a silver foot in his mouth.
Thanks ma Richards, you old witch.
KERRY: I understand what the president is talking about, because I know what it means to lose people in combat. And the question, is it worth the cost, reminds me of my own thinking when I came back from fighting in that war.
And it reminds me that it is vital for us not to confuse the war, ever, with the warriors. That happened before.
Exactly
Please people, let's focus on the what we have without coming off like kooky conspiracy theorists.
In this particular instance, he said we will talk about that later in reference to Homeland Security. The debate topic included Foreign Policy and Homeland Security.
Continuing to look for more than is there is going to make us look silly.
my favorite"we guarded the oil ministry but left the NUCLEAR Facilities unguarded---Hello?? LURCH--they were not supposed to have any Nuclear facilities like in WMD's???
cincinnati, you're right. I was just listening to WABC radio and the topic of conversation was regarding how Kerry cheated (i.e. the piece of paper that he allegedly pulled out of his pocket). Then, there was an additional accusation noted, which said that Kerry had an earpiece, and a man from NJ called up and discussed it. Well, the next caller said on the air 'this is why I would never vote for Bush...all the Republicans are paranoid and conspirators'. So, yeah, perhaps we should be careful not to go over the top with our speculations (although, I certainly wouldn't put it past Kerry to cheat!)
I personally liked #9. Why does the`nam-churian candidate think France and Germany are our allies? Does he realize they hate us because we`re better than they are, that we in actuality usually fix the problems they get into? That the only ally of the U.S. to stand with us in EVERY battle for the last 100 years is Australia and yet they are "bribed or coerced"? sigh.... I really hate preaching to the chior as it were, but venting is good, just ask mt.St. Helens
The folded piece of paper is fair game as far as I'm concerned because it was captured on video. Given this gem, why do people have to divert attention with claims that a wink from the moderator or Kerry's reference to the PRE-designated debate topic is evidence of a grand conspiracy?
Instead of looking like whacky conspiracy nuts and diluting what we have, we should continue to hammer on what is known:
(1) Kerry broke the rules (paper in pocket) - This can and will go a long way if it gets out there. But be careful with accusations about what it was lest we come off looking like nuts. Cheat sheet? Maybe. Actual questions? I highly doubt it!
(2) Kerry said some really stupid things (see above) - Global Test, For and Against the war in same debate.
I'm sure these kids / families were standing next to some foreign leaders that said they preferred Kerry.
The president did miss a good opportunity to reply, did you tell those kids you voted against their body armor?
Actually Osama first claimed that American no-flight zones and sanctions were such a declaration.
Exactly
Yes Sentor, and how do you suppose that happened?
Again, and it pains me to say this, it just shows how bad Bush did, that he couldn't hit these softballs out of the park.
OH BOY....a newbie posting his/her first article on the first day of joining FR....
