Did Kerry Violate Debate Rules By Using Cheat Sheet?
Mensnewsdaily.com ^ | October 3, 2004

Democratic Presidential Candidate John Kerry may have violated the rules governing last Thursday's presidential debate.

According to Section 5 (pps 4 and 5) of the Memorandum of Understanding that was negotiated and agreed upon by both the Bush and Kerry campaigns:

(c) No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate. ...

(d) Notwithstanding subparagraph 5(c), the candidates may take notes during the debate on the size, color and type of paper each side prefers. Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium, table or other structure to be used by the candidate in that debate.

On Sunday, INDC Journal and Daily Recycler produced a video and close-up stills showing that Senator Kerry apparently violated the rules signed by his campaign.

The video shows Kerry pulling what looks like crib notes from his jacket and placing them on his lectern at the start of the debate.

The website zombietime.com has posted a frame-by-frame view of the event here.

Use of crib notes during the debate would constitute a material breach of Memorandum of Understanding, though it is unclear if Kerry would be sanctioned.

Kerry reaches with his left in this video.

That's to shield his movements from the audience and the frontal cameras.

"Maybe that's why Kerry was so smooth. BTW waht's on Bush's podium? I can't tell."

Hmm...suspicious indeed! I thought it looked like "columns" on the paper. But it could be grayish shadows from the edge-sides of his hands.

"Don't you agree the majority of Democrats are sociopaths? "

You did not ask me but I would agree to it. And they WILL cheat to win. There is no doubt in my mind about it. They do cheat. And I do think Kerry is capable of it.

Well that's a lousy rule. Charts and diagrams are helpful in explaining things. The politicos (including Bush) who created these debate rules obviously want to keep Americans dummied down.

The purpose of the "debates" is to show how candidates can do without such aids. While it puts excessive attention on certain candidate attributes that are in reality not all that important, there is some merit to seeing candidates on their own without aids or aides to help them.

If someone brings a crib-sheet to an SAT, they will be forbidden from taking the test at that time, and perhaps in future as well. Although the SAT testing facilities provide ample blank paper for people who wish to work out problems, I would expect that someone caught bringing in a blank sheet of paper would likely face sanctions just as surely as someone bringing a crib sheet (to ensure that people don't scheme to "test the system").

It seems very clear that Kerry broke the rules, and very likely that he broke the rules with deliberate intent (i.e. cheated).

Kerry could have pulled a white hankerchief from his pocket for hot lights, however it could have a few notes to remind him of points he needed to make during debate.

Both men had a white sheet of paper in front of them on podium and a pen if they needed to take notes.

The microphone for Bush was not positioned properly.

I am sure Kerry will have an explanation of some sort.

Call me idealistic, but I don't believe all Dems would use a cheat sheet in the debate.

I am friends with several Dems, and I am certain that they will sit this election out....and possibly even vote for Dubya....if they knew Kerry did this.

Not all Dems are amoral. A lot are, yes, but not all.

If this gets a wide airing, people WILL be turned off by Kerry.

this is on Drudge radio now. The problem is that unless someone in the MSM really looks at the video (which shouldn't be too hard to do) and makes a case about it with the campaign then this will go nowhere.

Here's one for all of us: what if the cue card had the questions?

He may have picked them up with the 'notes' he was supposedly making with great and obvious and sweeping 'flourishes'; maybe 'false memory' but I thought I saw him gather or look like he was organizeing 'stuff'/gathering/tapping edges of papers at the very end. . .

Was was trying to watch him closely becuase I was wondering what he was really writing/doing with his pen during debate; so wondered if he would leave his stuff for someone else to clean up and see whathe put on his papers or take them with him. . .

Am wondering if one of his people came out and picked them up or he handed stuff over. . .cannot remember; or perhaps they did not show it.

But it should be on the video. . .I hope the video shows the 'end game' of Kerry. . .

Sorry brush was too wide. I meant the dims running their party. That whole lot will do anything. I bet you are right --- Some regular dims are probably turned off with what the party is doing. Pat Cadell comes to mind.

Dudes - doesn't matter.

Kerry didn't 'win' the debate - Bush blew it.

"That's to shield his movements from the audience and the frontal cameras."

Kerry makes this move when Lehr is addressing Bush; so eyes and cameras focused on GW; the best and only time he could do this. . .and before 'split screen' would be operating.

DRUDGE JUST SAID THE NY SLIMES IS PICKING THIS UP FOR TOMORROW (FRONT PAGE).........WHOO-HOOOO!!!

Also, there is a Freeper who does "video forensic" work as his profession and has some state of the art equipment to work on a high res copy of the cheater tape (if anyone has it). May be able to clearly determine what the heck J Effin K pulled out of his breast pocket!

The man infuriates me. He is a pathological liar and has narcissistic personality disorder. He could have invented the phrase, "It's all about me."

No, it's not my theory. It's from a commentary from another blog site. Some others were saying it was a pen or even a PDA. I figure it was a paper cheat sheet.

I said before that Kerry reminded me of a snake oil salesman. He's not only that but a liar and a cheat too.

No. His factual errors he just makes up as he goes along. He's very glib, so whatever he says sounds convincing..."it's seared in [his] memory" no doubt.
