Presidential candidate John Kerry in robust health say the senator's doctors

Democrat Kerry 'in top health'

From correspondents in New York
October 3, 2004

DEMOCRATIC presidential candidate John Kerry is in robust health, despite a cancer operation last year and a hectic campaign schedule, The New York Times reported today after interviewing the senator's doctors.

Regular blood tests checking for a recurrence of prostate cancer have been clean, doctors said.

Mr Kerry, whose father died of prostate cancer at age 85, had his prostate gland entirely removed in February 2003 after detection of early-stage cancer.

His doctors say he is cured.

If Mr Kerry had a recurrence, "he would be astonished, and so would I," said Dr Patrick Walsh, who performed the operation.

A review of X-rays by Mr Kerry's personal physician confirm that he has two pieces of metal shrapnel deep in his left thigh, one the size of a bullet and another a bit smaller. Mr Kerry, who has been accused of exaggerating his injuries in the Vietnam war, was treated for shrapnel wounds in 1969.

Mr Kerry, 60, has had five surgeries for sports-related injuries, the most recent in March to repair an old biking injury aggravated during the campaign.

Mr Kerry's personal physician said he might prescribe a cholesterol-lowering drug after the election, but meanwhile urged the candidate to eat peanut butter sandwiches and ice cream to make up for meals missed while campaigning.

"To hell with the cholesterol," Doctor Gerald Doyle was quoted as saying. "You can't have a gaunt-looking person running for president because people will draw conclusions that are erroneous."

Mr Kerry stands 1.95 metres tall and his normal weight is 83.9kg.

He takes no medications on a regular basis and has never been in trouble with the law for alcohol or drug abuse, the report said.

Doctors said Mr Kerry had instructed them not to withhold anything from his medical records, as past US presidents and candidates have sometimes done.

Please examine close-ups of Kerry's ears. Does he have a crease above the earlobe?

This is a potential sign of a heart problem, and is widely seen in older people.

DEMOCRATIC presidential candidate John Kerry is in robust health.

But what about his mental health? He lies about so many things I can only think he's unhinged.

What the hey is that all about. Sounds very suspicious to me. I just wonder why a doctor would add that remark.

Prostatectomy doesn't "cure" prostate cancer any more than a mastectomy cures breast cancer. It's a systemic disease.

He also denied health problems just before he underwent prostate surgery.

This is like answering a question before it's asked.

When you have to release a statement saying you are in robust health and then you don't have any medical records to back it up, Must mean you have something to hide.

I'm not being conspiratorial about anything bad about his health. I'm betting that it would show that his claims of retained shrapnel are bogus.

Yes, Mr. Kerry is doubly cured. He is absolutely cured of prostate cancer. If he had his prostate completely removed, he has no chance of prostate cancer recurring. He also has not chance (but that might not be the right word) of having to gnaw off his right arm after awakening in bed. What was the name of his rock group again? The LimpJohns? lol.

Despite this, IMHO, sKerry has a serious medical condition we aren't aware of. He just doesn't look well.

Since he's a veteran (and I use that term lightly with sKerry), perhaps he'd submit to an independent physical at Walter Reed and then release all the results.

Not necessarily. It's not unusual these days with PSA testing to pick up prostate cancer before it has spread beyond the prostatic capsule. I wish I knew what Kerry's PSA is now as it should be undetectable if what he says is true.
