Just walked into the kitchen where my wife was watching Saturday Night Live. The guy portraying Kerry explained Kerry so that even a liberal could understand... In effect, I'm consistent. I'm for the war when speaking to a pro war audience... against the war when speaking to an anti-war audience. Ending with "That's not filp flopping -- that's pandering!"
It was very funny, and good for us. The criticisms of the President Bush were all things that we've heard in the media a dozen times since Thursday.
But they showed Kerry making bizarre hand motions and openly contradicting himself and it was very funny. Also, Kerry jokes seemed to get more laughs and cheers.
Thats not flip-floping thats being a jackass... :^D
Thanks for ruining it for those of us on the West Coast. ;-)
Now they are doing a funny Swift Boat vet skit.
I also thought the Jim Lehrer character on SNL asked better questions than Jim Lehrer actually did.
The SNL skewering of Gore after the first debate in 2000 was the first real sign that his performance was much more a disaster than the MSM was spinning. Looks like SNL is spot on again.
Did the mimic his head bob? I thought that was his most noticeable mannerism ripe for mocking.
I saw that. Kerry's closing statement was also hilarious. Nailed him as a serial flip-flopper. Bush's closing statement was funny too. Talking about hard work and "don't even know why he wants this job". Was pretty even handed for SNL.
"Adobe Photoshop: When you want the truth really bad"
Sounds like CBS's motto.
Most memorable line... in response to the Actor playing president Bush charging that Kerry said that the war was "The Wrong War, In the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time.. " to which the Jim Lehrer character says. "He never said that..", "Senator Kerry said many nonsensical contradictory things that you might have rebutted but he never said that."
I have heard so many folks express the desire to will Bush to really zing Kerry.
You know I almost feel that Bush decided to let the public do the zinging Kerry.. I have heard lots of the ones folks wished Bush had said.. and now SNL feels like it needed to chime in.. to get that sense of completion! Bravo for GW and the sound of one hand clapping.
The transcript for this will be a classic. See Saturday Night Live Transcripts Obviously its not posted yet!
Still I was shocked to see SNL going straight at Kerry no holds barred.. stunning!
Thanks - it's not on here in Hawaii for another 4 hours, but I was almost afraid to watch. Now I feel safe doing so.
It was very good for us, again, because the criticisms of Bush were already aired everywhere, but the criticisms of Kerry's performance were aired pretty much here, on NRO, and talk radio.
And the laughs at Kerry's expense were bigger.
That's Ben Affeck doing Carville now!!!
SOMEONE ON THE WEST COAST SHOULD CAPTURE THIS VIDEO.
OMG, Clinton's bringing room service.
LOL clinton room service
Now they have James Carville, MS. Heinz, John Kerry, and Bill Clinton. This skit was real funny!
SNL has been awful for many years. I use to always watch the season premiere and have been terribly disappointed.
The debate skit was great. They really made Kerry look like a person you did not want to vote for. In fact, if the Bush campaign would have done the skit they would have done it just like SNL did it.
They made Bush look stupid but it everybody knows who Bush is and I thought it was funny.
This skit definitely did not help out Kerry one bit.
