California peace activist launches monthlong anti-Nader hunger strike By Associated Press Saturday, October 2, 2004
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - A Southern California peace activist once fasted for 63 days to protest movie violence and war toys. Now he's taking on Ralph Nader.
Jerry Rubin is launching a hunger strike to persuade Ralph Nader to abandon his presidential bid.
Rubin says Nader isn't doing the right thing by running for president.
Rubin, who's 60, says he plans to consume only liquids for the next month unless Nader meets with him.
Many believe the votes Nader received in Florida in 2000 would have gone to Democratic candidate Al Gore if Nader hadn't run. Gore lost the state -- and the national election -- by 537 votes.
Rubin is not the 60s radical Jerry Rubin of ``Chicago Seven'' fame. In fact, this Rubin's legal name is Jerry Peace Activist Rubin.

lets help him out and send him to Ethiopia.
OK- NOT excerpted... Short article.
My disdain for Ralph Nader would lessen slightly if he;d say, "What the %$&^ do I care if Jerry Rubin starves?"
Gees, even the left hates Ralph Nader. They think he is not left enough.
He is in Santa Monica,Kalifornia- Socialist/Commies...
There's something awfully manipulative about public fasting:
16 Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face
18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
New American Standard Bible : 1995 update. 1995 (Mt 6:16). LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.
If it takes a month, do they still call it fast?
And if you're stuck fast, how fast are you moving?
Let's see...His record is 0-2. What do you think the odds are it will soon be 0-3?
So starve, A-Hole.
I never understood the concept of why I am supposed to feel compelled comply with someone's demands simply because they attempt to hurt themself until I stop doing what he doesn't like.
Him: "You keep that up, and I'll hit myself again!"
Me: "Good; next time use a bigger hammer; it'll hurt more."
Good...I hope he starves!
Wow. Now if we could just get Michael Moore on that diet........
For some reason this made me think about a guy in our church.
He had just joined and he wanted to be part of the prayer and fasting chain. We suggested he might want to take either Saturday or Sunday as he worked in construction and all of that physical activity might be a bit hard on him with no food.
He assured us that it would not be a problem. After about three weeks we found out why. When you count milkshakes as liquid you don't get that hungry.
Heh, mean joke:
What does MRE stand for?
Meals Refused by Ethiopians. >:)
"Rubin, who's 60, says he plans to consume only liquids"
Hope his choice is rat poison.
He should make it a year.
By 2008 he might acutally be down to a normal weight.
