Simply unacceptable! What the heck can we do on our end to ensure those who are sacraficing for our country can be counted on one of the most important event of their lives.

yet another reason the dems are filing suit against nader - it disrupts miltary votes, which go towards the republicans.

Even without disruptions my son won't get to vote. Illinois doesn't even mail out absentee ballots until after Oct. 4th.

After more than a year in Iraq he will be leaving for Kuwait in the middle of Oct. for two weeks and then to Ft. Lewis, Washington and then home. The ballot will never catch up with him in time.

Under normal circumstances the mail from the U.S. can take up to three weeks to get to Iraq and then a three week return trip to the states.

The State Legislature can pass legislation to count the votes, even if they are late. The MIlitary can fly the ballots to the soldiers and back again.

The tactics of democRATS is to delay, deny, obfuscate, file suit, and then SCREAM that Bush stole the election. I get sick just thinking about them.

don't forget the new 'massive voter fraud' tactics new this year. That's the one thing that really scares me. A bunch of idiots stealing the election through false registrations and absentee ballots.

The article mentioned the local races. There is a Federal absentee ballot available that all the states have to accept but only applies to Presidential, senate and congressional races.

What really amazes me is that during the last election it was a reported fact that the ballots of soldiers were not being picked up on time...where was the REAL outrage..why did the Dems not raise HELL...they do not want these ballots cast & with all the voter fraud that is popping up already they are at it again...Unless BUSH wins by a WIDE margin it will be lawsuit after lawsuit....WE HAVE GOT TO GET EVERYONE WE KNOW THAT IS GOING TO VOTE FOR BUSH TO GET TO THE POLLS....THERE CAN BE NO SLACKERS..GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Even without disruptions my son won't get to vote. Illinois doesn't even mail out absentee ballots until after Oct. 4th."

Where's all the outrage over "disenfranchised voters"???

If anyone's vote should be viewed as important, it is those in harm's way to defend our way of life. But all we hear about is voters in Florida who apparently can't even read the ballot in front of their face.

There needs to be NOISE about this. Are Hannity and Rush on to this travesty?

"As the legal debate continues over Ralph Nader's inclusion on Arkansas' November ballot, leaders of the state's 39th Infantry Brigade are searching for ways that will allow the brigade's 3,200 soldiers to successfully vote."

Maybe this is whacko Nader's plan to have maximum impact in favor of the Socialists.

A post from a friend and true patriot and Vietnam Vet *ping*

This time frame thing has been eating at me for over 25 years now. The time frame to get on the ballot is way too close to the actual elections and this practice has to stop. The end result is our men and women who are fighting to keep our freedom and voting rights are being shut out and that is totally unacceptable. Move the damned time frame to make it on the ballots up at least 60 days and end this crap for good. Grrrrrrrrrrr this makes me mad!!!!

My Reply:
You know there are so many things about this article that tick me off. But you wrote about the time frame so I will address that.

It is pure bunk. The military could find a way to get these ballots to the soldier and back to the states in well a nick of time.

The ballots should have been printed and mailed, knowing that Iraq is still lagging in the mail system. It has improved, but, that is not the gamble that should be taken.

These men and women deserve to vote. Folks should be standing outside the court, the state election office where ever their voice can be heard.

I do not know what to do Bill, but we have just about a month to make their votes count so lets put our heads together and do something.

To my Freeper friends:
I have been pushing for him to sign on to FR, cuz he has so much to contribute. His wisdom and knowledge from the Vietnam War really put many current events into perspective. Perhaps in your reply you can also extend Bill an invite to share his thoughts on FR. I offered him the name GOP Stud Muffin but I do not think he is buying that one. (evil grin)

Military ballots should be counted FIRST... and that is after being stamped in gold and delivered in silk envelopes to each and every precinct.

THEN and only then should the rest of us proceed with the election :-)

As pointed out, there are several gains for the demo's in blocking Nader: Bad press (Aginst Bush, of course, since the demo's role in never explained!), remove other lib. candidates from the ballot, delay (conservative) military ballots, ....

And, finally, set up vote fraud complaints later.

I am with you, what can we do to help change this.

Could we get a member of Congress interested in this, maybe someone like McCain that could introduce some sort of Federal legislation that require states to insure that military ballots are sent out in time and returned expeditiously.

American soldiers like any other American have the right to vote if they choose to and should not have to worry about ballots getting to them in time!
